The mane 7 were having a fun summer vacation in the beach. Sunset Shimmer was happy that she had come so far. She was admiring the view, until she saw something shiny from afar and decided to see what it was. She stops on her tracks when she had finally found what she was looking for and picks it up to see it was just a mirror, she examines it and saw a cracked lapis lazuli gem behind the mirror. Sunset decided to keep it because it was rare for her to see, what she didn't know, is that someone is trapped and needed to be free.

Grogar teaches Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow on how a villain ought to deal with the heroes. The Treacherous Trio pride themselves into thinking that they know it all and have what it takes to be successful villains to take over Equestria. However, Grogar shows a whole other level of villainy...of some sort. A terrifying creature from another world shows them what he is capable of and goes to certain measures they wouldn’t expect and which even Grogar knows would drive the lesson down to home.

Another one of Pinkie's parties is winding down, and Dash sits alone in the corner. She feels another knot tightening in her chest, clenching harder by the second. She just can't seem to make it go away, not alone.

Having succeeded in their task of convincing the dragon to leave his mountain home, Twilight and her friends are of course delighted that things are getting back to normal. But shortly after their return to Ponyville, the young unicorn gets a surprise visit from the heroine of the hour, Fluttershy, who has something she needs to ask her.

Unaware of how his image and name have been used, the real Grogar returns to his lair after a long vacation. Naturally, he's not exactly pleased to find out what's been happening while he was gone.

Shortly after her coronation as the new Princess of Equestria, Twilight is visited by a creature she never expected to see in person. What's even more unexpected than the identity of this petitioner, though, is his reason for coming.

After Spike finds an abandoned egg, his instincts kick in and he does everything to protect it.

Pharynx hates the new hive. He hates sharing love. He hates what his brother is doing, so he goes to be alone outside the hive.

During which, he starts to remember one of his older memories. A very important one.

At the conclusion of the Battle of the Bell, the three villains were incapacitated by a giant cupcake. But when the cupcake was poofed away, the trio of doom were nowhere to be found. For over a year, Equestria has stood sentry against their inevitable attempt at revenge.

Now two retired monarchs are about to discover that somehow, against all odds, the greatest threats in Equestria's history may have found the impossible; a happy ending.
