I've been a royal guard since I was 16. I'm 37 now and I've worn 3 different sets of armour. One blue, one black, and the other silver. Its not like I've changed which army I served, I've always served the crystal empire. If I was asked what my life was like at that time, it would defy every expectation of the sugar coated brutal past this empire has.

Rainbow Dash's morning was pretty much ruined.
She tripped getting out of bed and landed flat on her face, giving herself an aching muzzle.
She forgot to buy her favorite brand of hay flakes at the store yesterday and had to eat plain toast for breakfast.
She found out she had to pull double-duty today and tomorrow on the weather patrol.
Oh, and she found a nearly-dead foal, broken and bleeding at the edge of Ponyville.

The rest of her day became a whirlpool of stress and worry but the colt woke up, thank Celestia.
Something's not right, though. Nopony can find his parents, he's not in the registers, and there's an unsettling look in his eye...

After Celestia dismissed her warnings about Nightmare Moon, Twilight Sparkle decides to take matters into her own hooves. She finds a spell to be able to travel to the moon so that she can save Equestria.

She then also decides that blowing up Nightmare Moon is the best way to go. Way to go, Twilight!

As Canterlot picks up the pieces after a surprise attack that left the city reeling, ponies whisper and spread rumors of their attackers. A lone infiltrator in their midst knows the truth, for he has kept their existence secret through deception and bloodshed.

Now the secret is out, and with his brothers and sisters blasted into the wilderness, he begins the task ordered by his Queen. Hiding among the ponies behind a smiling mask, he eventually finds a mare with information he needs.

An offer of friendship is made and accepted. As she lowers her guard to him, he takes one step closer to reaching his goal.

He has a role to fill. To avenge the Hive, Princess Celestia must die.

It's been a rough few weeks for Bastion: misunderstandings, weird dreams, international intrigue with the threat of a changeling Queen looming over him...

So it's decided he needs a little break. He needs to go someplace new, reset himself a little, see how he acts without anyone trying to steer him one way or another. Appropriately enough for the heir to the War Engineer Faux Pas, that place is Fight Camp.

It's not long before he makes some new friends, of course, and learns some new combat tricks.

His new friends, however, may be a league too high for him, and have their own dark pasts to worry about.

It's been some time, and little Bastion has grown to enjoy life in Ponyville. Aside from a few nightmares and the occasional buzzing in his head, he's doing well and enjoying life.

All that is threatened, though, when a news article in the foreign press brands the ponies around him as abusive. Now the griffons are sending inspectors to talk to those around him, to make sure he doesn't need to be taken away. Everything he's done so far has to be scrutinised, including the things he doubts. His dreams, his nightmares, everything will be exposed.

Unbeknownst to him, things are shifting behind the scenes, and Princess Celestia is preparing for the unseen threat posed by the still-at-large Chrysalis, even going so far as to call in help from a Unicorn who fell off the grid a long time ago...

Even with Twilight Sparkle as Equestria's new ruler, old troubles still lurk. When Luna sends Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy on a mission to steal something from a group of Luna's worshippers, Fluttershy questions whether or not she can do what needs to be done.

Fluttershy doesn't realize exactly what she's getting into when she becomes the bearer of the Element of Kindness. Thus, when the Elements are used to turn Discord to stone, she is horrified and plagued by nightmares... nightmares of the power she wields but never asked for, nightmares of how far she might have to go, nightmares of a legacy she never wanted. She's going to have to take major steps to soothe her guilt. Befriending Discord is only the beginning, it seems.
