During a Wonderbolts exhibition at Mt. Aris, Rainbow Dash accidentally crashes at Sonic Rainboom speeds, nearly killing her. Her recovery is slow and painful, grounding her for months. While land-locked, she learns to appreciate life from the new perspective, as well as the pony caring for her.

At the same time, Applejack watches others form families of their own and starts to wonder if she’ll ever get a special-somepony for herself, or if she’ll end up alone. But she doesn't get any time to ponder that before she's suddenly thrust into a caretaker role for a badly wounded Pegasus...

Applejack was out on the orchard going about her usual daily business. She is startled by some creature causing her to nearly break her leg. Unable to do anything for herself she reaches out to her friends for assistance. Unfortunately they are all wrapped up in their own affairs, all except for Spike. Applejack had always thought Spike was a respectable dragon with a good head on his shoulders, maybe more than she thought. Will she start to feel for the one of a kind dragon or will she drive her self to the edge to deny it.

After finally racking up the courage to tell Twilight something a little personal, she is left feeling heartbroken and alone at her friend's reaction. Will Rainbow Dash accept her apology? Or will things never be the same between them again?

Rainbow Dash dreams.

She dreams of stars. And then, when she is visited by the Princess of the Night, she dreams of other things, things that Luna assures her will provide answers and solve her problems. If only they weren't so painful to relive.

If only Dash knew what Luna was trying to help her with in the first place.

It's always hard to say goodbye, and few know this better than those who are burdened with immortality. Discord was always distant from ponies, viewing them as lesser beings at best, and mere toys at worst. Until he met Fluttershy.

He just didn't expect it to be so hard to say goodbye.
