And it's not that she's ever had a problem with Canterlot nightlife; she just has a problem with ponies named Vinyl Scratch. Not that anypony knows why, though, and Octavia isn't about to share embarrassing secrets.

Being a complete introvert, Octavia is very surprised when a strange looking girl in her music class calls her a peculiar nickname. Her name is Vinyl Scratch, and for some reason, she acts like Octavia is her best friend! Who in the world is this girl???

This story is heavily inspired by my love of Dawnfade's Vinyl and Octavia: University Days and my endearing love of Japanese yuri manga.

When Vinyl Scratch gets a bit too uppity, her producer, Sound Wave, decides to make it clear that he's in charge of every aspect of her life. Where she goes, what she says, and even who she dates. Octavia just wants to be left out of things, but gets roped in when Wave decides she and Vinyl would make the perfect couple.

Inspired by this story, by which I mean I stole the concept and ran with it. (Technically mature, although the naughty bits are only one paragraph long and clearly labeled as such.)

After the invention of radio, DJ-P0n3 (aka Vinyl Scratch) holds the first Equestrian talk show with her co-host Octavia. Octavia quickly finds out her superior is very eccentric, leading their broadcast to be constantly derailed, yet somehow remain popular. These episodes were recorded for historical significance and transcribed. These are the Vinyl Scratch Tapes.

Ever since she was a young filly Octavia had everything planned for her by her parents. What schools she would go to, what instrument she would play, what career she would have after school. Everything went according to plan. That was until Octavia moved away to Ponyville. However, Octavia's parents have one more plan and that is to marry off Octavia. Octavia will not be a part of that plan and with the help of Vinyl Scratch and a few other friends they create a plan to stop the arranged marriage and free Octavia from her parent's hold.

Every pony in Equestria knows the names Octavia Philharmonica and Vinyl Scratch. Every musician in Equestria knows and reveres their talent and most semi-jokingly complain that Octavia and Vinyl's relationship should count as a monopoly on musical talent. Very few know their early story, years ago when Octavia had only just left Canterlot Conservatory and Vinyl was... well, being Vinyl.

Octavia and Harmonia Philharmonica were on their way to Manehattan, ready to fulfill their duty as granddaughters and visit Nana. Vinyl Scratch and her brother Long Play were traveling back home from a concert in Canterlot, the first that Vinyl had ever attended. Pure serendipity facilitated these pairs' first meeting.

Years have passed since Octavia Philharmonica and Vinyl Scratch first met on the platforms of Canterlot Station. In the short time that they spent together, they became the best of friends. Then they separated, both of them returning to their homes, meeting one another with less and less frequency as time went on. Within a few years, they had only memories of each other, impressions of the fillies that they used to be.

And then they met again, in the hallways of the Canterlot Conservatory.

Vinyl Scratch, also known as DJ-P0n3, is one of the most famous DJs in Canterlot. But lately, she's been feeling like something's missing in her life. And then a gray Earth pony mare shows up at her club one night...

Author's Note: I wanted to do something different with the Octavia/Vinyl Scratch pairing. In all the stories I've read, Tavi was the reserved, more quiet one while Vinyl was the party girl. But what if it were the other way around? What if Vinyl was the more reserved one and Tavi the wild girl? This is my attempt to expand on that idea.
