It's been ten years since the Crystal Empire had reappeared and the dark curse of King Sombra had been broken. Under the kind rule of Princess Cadance and her family, the Crystal Empire slowly grows back into the prosperous and peaceful nation the crystal ponies had built up centuries ago.

However, not only the past offers challanges that need to be faced as even the weather can be hostile up in the frozen north.
On the darkest days of winter, a storm hits the Crystal Empire with unforeseen force, bringing along ice and snow but also an ancient threat.
How will the royal family handle this threat and protect their subjects?

Crystal Note visits Ponyville after travelling through Equestria and ends staying at Sugarcube Corner for the night. When she finds out about Pound and Pumkin's fear of thunderstorms, she knows just what to do.
