Update - Hurricane Ian · 3:03am Oct 16th, 2022
To give an update, because people have been asking...
- Yes, Hurricane Ian hit the town I lived in (Cape Coral)
- Yes, Hurricane Ian is one of the most - if not the most - destructive hurricanes in the history of the US.
- Yes, I evacuated (three times, it was harrowing, we forded a river with my car)
- Yes, my house was partially destroyed, as it a 7-county area of Florida.
- Yes, I'm ok for now. I'm currently living out of Groaning Grey Agony's guest room, which is very nice of him and his partner, so thanks to them.
Honestly, everything before that feels like a lifetime away. I feel like I could write a horror novel about the week that started with the evacuation orders rolling in. IDK when we'll be able to finish dealing with the stuff that was left in the house when the storm surge came in, but fortunately, I put things up on the desk and bed before it hit, so I didn't lose much to that. (I actually don't know what all I lost yet, still going through boxes) Also fortunately, we were renting that house, so we just need to get everything out and find another place to live. (Preferably not near the coast)
Dunno when there'll be an update on anything else, but I WILL say that...
I'm going to be teaching an online class tomorrow afternoon (Sunday, 6:00PM EST) on making webpages in HTML / CSS. It'll be over on the Optimalverse Discord at 6:00 PM US-Eastern, so if you're interested, join the server. I'll try to remember to post something about it in the morning. (We scheduled it right before the hurricane, so things have been a bit chaotic, and I forgot to post it here.)
