A Status Update of Some Sort · 12:38am Oct 8th, 2022
Whoops it's been like 4 months since I posted anything again.
Let's do a little status update.
How's Anecdotes of Heart coming along?
Currently, only one's been published. There are thirteen more that I have plans for at the moment, and more can be added to that list at any time. Unfortunately, I'm not having much luck turning the current one into an actual story.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: short stories are harder to write than novels for me. I really struggle with telling a compelling narrative and creating meaningful character depth in things that aren't a sprawling, multi-chapter epic. I guess that's one of my writing weaknesses.
At any rate, there's a story focusing on Lucid and a brand new character that's currently in progress, and I'll make that available as soon as I can find the inspiration to finish it in a satisfying fashion.
In other pony news...
Ok, so I wasn't sold on Gen 5's "Make your Mark" based on the special we got back in the Spring, but the recent set of episodes has changed my mind. I really like the structure of it, where the events of each episode lead directly into the next, and Misty's really making a strong case for best pony of Gen 5, though I don't know if she's quite there yet. She's delightful, though, I'm eager for more of her. The music has been surprisingly excellent too, even if it is heavily biased toward Pipp getting 90% of the songs.
What's your thoughts on G5?
And just a little something cool...
Recently, I received a surprise gift, and it's kind of amazing and also pony related, so I'm gonna show it off.
The always awesome Olden Bronie, one of my friends and a long-time reader of my stuff, went and commissioned Winston the custom plushie maker, and brought one of my favorite Magic of the Heart characters to life!
I was super excited to receive this adorable Honeydew plush. She's actually super accurate to her appearance in the third novel: her mane is hanging free instead of tied up in buns, her tail is braided, her cutie mark is almost suspiciously perfect (I assume it must've been made directly from the digital vector image of the cutie mark somehow), she's got her enchanted tail ring embedded with a (plastic) gemstone... even the notch in the back of her horn is there! So check out Winston if you're looking for some really well-done plushies, and thanks again Olden Bronie for an amazing surprise!
I guess that's about all for now. Hopefully I can bring some more Anecdotes of Heart to fimfiction soon.

I have to wonder if, now that Dinky's status as a wraith is public, if she'd do anything for Nightmare Night?

I have watched the first two episodes of the new bunch. The first extra long one was a bit of a letdown after the great special.
I actually came here because I thought I remembered mention of a printed version of S&H a while ago. Or is that all in my head?

Physical copies are a thing people are interested in, but I haven't been able to make it happen yet.

Thanks fore the reply :). I just wasn't sure if something along those lines had been announced yet. Would hate to miss it if it had. I can imagine it might be quite the hassle, so if it never happens, it never happens :).
I’ve really been enjoying the Make your Mark series myself! Misty is a very good character and I can see her becoming more popular as her story is revealed. I also like the tie back to Gen 4 and Twilight’s cameo adds a bit of foreshadowing and history at the same time!
Winston definitely did some terrific work in making Honeydew so perfectly. I’m so glad that you like her.
I’m looking forward to reading more Ancedotes of the Heart , as well. Your stories are some of my favorites!
