I finished Splatoon 3’s story mode: · 7:48pm Sep 13th, 2022
And I really need to talk about something. Spoilers for those who haven’t played Splatoon 3.
It’s pretty known that DJ Octavio was the antagonist of the first two Splatoon games. He reappears in the third game, but as the first boss, and it’s clear that he’s not the main baddie this time. After that though, he disappears completely and doesn’t show up again until the final boss, where he’s just a Deus ex Machina that helps the player fight the true antagonist of the game.
And that’s cool and all, but it just brings up so many questions. Like, what was he doing before that point? What happened to him after? Did he go back to being evil after helping save the world? Or did this Heel-Face Turn actually stick? I know most people aren’t too bothered by this, and I might be biased since I really like Octavio, but it still feels cheap to me.
“Thank god that’s finally over. If you excuse me, I have no time to stick around for any post-game cutscenes. I gotta plan some evil shit for the next game that’ll come out in like, a decade or something, cause Status Quo is God. Bye bitches.”
If that ends up happening, I’m gonna feel even more cheated lmao ^

The gameplay is pretty good; turf wars are awesome, and the levels in the story mode were entertaining. The story itself (or at least the execution) was just okay

Honestly!! It felt like a smack to the face and a jab at how easily entertained we are -3-
But I really hope its kind of like a Dr.Robotnik (strictly Sonicboom ver) situation where he isnt fully evil but isnt like-A good guy.
Also- The outfits suck tbh
