When you have a story idea but lack of of confidence · 9:34am Sep 7th, 2022

I have an idea for a story...

It’s based on an MLP roleplay I did with a friend on another site (I’ll remove their OC and what belongs to them. I’ll just keep what I made up, like the plot and the world)

Well, the roleplay was inspired by Amphibia (but with original characters and world)

So basically the plot is that three characters (from G5) gets transported to this world and have to find each other and get home.

I really want to do this but there is one problem.

In the roleplay the characters were Izzy, Pipp and a side character in G5 that not many people might know about, and she doesn’t have any of her own stories on this site yet. Also, she doesn’t have much screen time so she might end up being out of character

But I still think it would be a good story to do. Plus, the side characters of G5 aren’t that bad, and a few deserve a bit more love in my opinion

Well, maybe I shouldn’t think about starting a long story before I finish my current one...

Go with what feels right. I'm currently working on a project g4 OC Alt. Universe story and I was losing confidence in my ability to write it out well enough to get some attention. But as I went along I realized that it's a process, not a competition. You shouldn't feel the need to confirm to what you see is popular in this site, just go with what makes you happy. Hope this helps.

One of my favorite stories on this site has tons of things that became blatantly opposed to canon, but were canon compliant at the time. And I know there are several stories about Luna from before Luna Eclipsed that are similar. Generally speaking people are pretty understanding about that sort of thing.
That said, I think you might be best served by finishing your current story first, but this seems like a great next tale.
Also, I agree with everything 5684584 said, it’s good advice.
