100 Follower Special! A Lot of Info About the Author · 1:36pm Jul 18th, 2022
So, around 5-6 months ago, I did a ‘50 Questions’ thing to give people some info about me because I wanted to. I don’t know where I found the original, but I was browsing Themaskedferret’s profile earlier (at like 6AM) and found out about a slightly different list of 50 questions. I had already planned to do the 50 I’d already done for my 18th birthday, see what had changed, what hadn’t. I read through them, and realized that there were things I wanted to do from both lists, so I created a massive 75-question master list and decided to do it for my 100 follower special.
I’m a little tired this morning, but I just had lots of carbohydrates and that should give me enough energy to do half of this before passing out, let’s go!
How are you feeling today?
Mainly just tired. I was jolted awake at like 4 AM due to something like exploding head syndrome (I heard a piercing alarm and went into a panic), couldn’t fall back asleep. It is currently 7, I am running on water and Pop-Tarts, but I’m prepared.
What is your first name?
Either Erinn or Velvet, haven’t decided yet.
What's the story behind your name?
Well, they’re both simple really. Erinn is based off of a DQIX character who works the Stornway Inn (I have a lot of fond memories of that game), and Velvet is based on Velvet Remedy. I like both names, though Velvet sounds cooler.
The FiMFiction name was originally devised as a shortening of ‘Dashite’, the derogatory name for fans of Rainbow Dash among the Enclave in FO:E, which was chosen as part of the self-depricating name ‘SociallyAwkwardDashite’ on Fandom. Once I dropped the ‘t’ to become more feminine, my FiMFiction name followed shortly, with ‘04’ at the end because that’s my birth year and Dashie was taken. I’ve kept the name probably the longest out of my FiMFiction names because I have a brand to keep, especially after Zephyrina/Zipp accidentally became a massive hit.
How old are you?
17, I turn 18 in a month + a week.
What country are you from?
The USA. I know, the most loved country in the world.
Where would you like to travel?
Anywhere…? Especially by car. I just like traveling for the sake of discovering new things. Though if I had a specific destination in mind, the Nordic countries seem like lovely places.
What do you look like?
Before noon (at least during this summer), hair’s an uneven mess, I have a 5 o’ clock shadow because my body didn’t get the memo when I said ‘no testosterone’.
After noon (and a shower), I clean up a bit, and put my hair in a ponytail. It’s still uneven, but at least not obviously so. Generally? I have brown hair, dark brown eyes, and basically look like the odd kid in your 1979 high school yearbook.
What do you wish you looked like?
I know it’s unrealistic, but I can’t help it if my transition goals are Shamiko (from The Demon Girl Next Door), Pyra (from Xenoblade Chronicles 2), and Noodle (from Gorillaz)!
How did you come across MLP:FIM?
Told this story in my other 50 questions, but given that there might be new blood here, I decided to look at Western Animation for comedy tropes on TVTropes, made a game out of looking for MLP just to amuse myself, and actually found the show to be kind of funny. So, I watched it.
Favorite MLP episode?
It’s still Pinkie Pride.
How has MLP changed your life?
QnS has been a massive help for my writing skill. I’ve found a lot of friends through it, and that’s the tip of the iceberg. It’s allowed me to embrace my identity, use my talents, and a whole manner of other things that could probably fit in a separate blog post.
What is your favorite ship?
It’s a toss-up between FlutterDash, FlutterCord, and Velamity.
Oh, and ShamiMomo and KouRin. Who said it had to be MLP?
What is your least favorite ship?
Don’t try to put characters who are canonically gay (as in: they are mentioned as such in the story/show/film/whatever, not word of god) into straight relationships and vice-versa, okay? (Note: don’t take this as law, you can, but if a ship follows that I’m not going to like it)
Have you told anyone outside the fandom that you like MLP?
Just about my entire 8th grade class. They were cool though.

My family knows.
Favorite MLP song?
Flawless is fantastic. Most of the season 8 and onwards songs are fantastic.
What are your thoughts on superheroes?
Watched the MCU a bit. Then phase 3 concluded and I lost interest. Never really been one for all that.
Favorite Anti-hero?
Yurine.
Favorite anti-villain?
Meta Knight is still really fucking cool.
What was the last book you read?
I think, hilariously, it is still The Beatles Lyrics by Hunter Davies for a physical book. I’ve been trying to get through Destination Anywhere by Admiral Biscuit, on this site, for a while.
What is the last movie you watched?
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers (the reboot).
Favorite song at the moment?
Steam Powered Giraffe has overtaken my life, and I love Transform as a side effect. The lyrics are about Bunny being a trans girl and I love it.
However, I do still like Wake Me Up and Great to be Different.
What song do you always come back to?
Recently I’ve been coming back to the phenomenal Business pmv by CreeperZone, but Brass Goggles and Honeybee are the songs I’ve been coming back to recently.
What's a song that may not necessarily be your favorite, but stands out to you?
There’s some modern music I like. I like a lot of the mainstream Rock movements that have been going on recently (sans Commercial Rock like Imagine Dragons). Some examples of this include Beggin’ by Manėskin, Wild Child by The Black Keys, and deja vu by Olivia Rodrigo. I know ‘Rock’ sits on a thin line and whatever’s considered ‘Rock’ is basically dependent on how much you like 70’s music, but I personally think there’s no reason why these songs shouldn’t be called Rock.
What type of music are you into?
Whatever the hell Steam Powered Giraffe is. Also British Invasion, and pretty much everything derived from Swing (with Neo-Swing being my favorite).
Are you a good cook?
To quote Momo Chiyoda, “Some say my cooking is a lethal weapon.”
Though with me, it’s more likely that I’ll burn down the house than create something inedible. I think. I haven’t tried.
What do you keep under your bed?
There’s a spider trap there. There’s also a lot of other things that have probably been under my bed for who knows how long. All my electronic charging things are beside my bed.
On an average day, what's in your pockets?
Usually my phone, but once I get girl clothes I won’t have any pockets!
What is your current job?
Depends on the definition of a ‘job’, currently I have made $9 off music and $10 off writing, so if that’s a job, then that’s it.
What job do you want in the future given your current restrictions?
Something hopefully sustainable. Something with music definitely, though.
Barring all restrictions, what’s your dream job?
I want to be a rock star. Good thing I like traveling because then I won’t mind living in my car.
At this moment what is your greatest achievement?
My first story in Sinbin, Zephyrina/Zipp. All that work I had spend grinding out my FiMFiction goals had finally paid off!

Driving terrifies me, but I’m going to need one at some point.

Something in Indy. I don’t mind Indiana, and Indy’s nice enough.

My entire being is considered a lethal weapon in sports in approximately half of the US states! True fact!
Is there a weapon you really want?
An AR-16 to take out those states.Nothing really, I do not like guns (or any weapon, really) in the slightest.

Since the last time I did this, I’ve just sort of not cared about religion. I wouldn’t say I’m any religion because I’m not interested enough to care.
If you could hang out with one person in history, who would it be?
I want to know more about the Public Universal Friend.
If you could bring one person back from the dead, who would it be?
Freddie Mercury, he went too soon, and now we have plenty of AIDS treatments available.

When I feel like it. I’m a Libertarian Leftist (to the shock of nobody) if you’re that interested.

I’m got a boyfriend, and we’re in a long-distance relationship. We’re meeting each other in August.
Do you consider yourself attractive?
Sometimes I feel like the cutest thing on the planet and other times I feel like chopped liver. Depends on the mood.
How's your relationship with your parents?
It’s pretty good. We play games together sometimes. I still live with them, so I’m glad it isn’t completely shattered.
Describe your best friend.
I don’t really have one… not irl, at least. I go to school with a carrot-top boy. We stayed best friends through grade school and into high school. Then he got a girlfriend, embraced religion as opposed to discarding it (like I have), and I haven’t really talked to him since. We didn’t really have a falling out, we just… grew apart. I’d say some of my closest online friends are Felicity and Maddie, but I don’t know them irl or anything.
Who is the first person you call when you’re in trouble?
I’d probably call my boyfriend. He’s always ready to help.
If you could spend a day with someone alive who would it be?
Is it a cop-out to say my boyfriend? Well, that’s who I’m choosing.
Who is your favorite pony?
To nobody’s surprise… Rainbow Dash! I do like Velvet Remedy also.
Do you prefer that people shoot straight with you or temper their words?
If you hate me for reasons regarding me being trans, tell it to my face. That way, I get more joy when I ignore the hateful criticism.

If you take an issue with my personality, you could probably temper your words, though. Whatever you’re going to say, I’ve probably already thought of it and had a mental breakdown over it.
Do you prefer stability or spontaneity?
Currently, spontaneity. I know I can’t keep that up forever, but my life motto is that life is too short to sweat the small stuff, so live in the moment while you can.
Do you usually follow your heart or your head?
Sometimes my heart does something and my head chastises me for it. Very common to have smooth brain moments.

In the downtime I’ve had this summer, I have turned to the dark side, and started watching… anime. Mainly just a lot of comedy SoL series. My favorite so far has been The Demon Girl Next Door good mix of cute, funny, and serious. The humor in Jashin-chan Dropkick is brilliant though, if violent and a little schadenfreudal.

What's a joke you heard recently?

The fact that Shamiko’s first instinct upon seeing Momo’s devil outfit is to pull the ribbon on the thing wondering what’ll happen, with the last thing being, “Sadly, it’s only decorative”. Had me cackling for a good long while.

What do you say when introductions are going around the room and you have to come up with an interesting fact about yourself?
I just usually say I’m a drummer. Self-explantory, prevents further social interaction.
Because of your experience, what do you know better than most people?
I know it’s not what the question is asking, but I think I know music pretty well. I also feel like I know the experience of being LGBT+ but too scared to come out, because that’s my main situation right now.
What should you do more?
I should talk more, and try more. But it’s not really easy to just do those things when your entire brain is wired around finding the maximum entertainment for minimal effort.
What should you do less?
I always feel like I talk about myself too much, regardless of whether it’s true or not. I also feel like I undersell myself too much. You see the paradox here. They often overlap. I don’t want to undersell myself because it might seem like I’m begging for attention when I say “I don’t really think I’m a great writer”. What makes it worse is that sometimes I feel like I am.
“Aww, these people are all giving compliments to these writers. I’m not included. Why am I not included? I want to hear what my thing is!”
My brain has done that many times, and I hate it.
Did you ever hurt someone's feelings just to hurt them?
Not intentionally no. I feel awful if I do so when people don’t deserve it either (and sometimes even if they do).
Upon dying, if you had the choice to re-live your life or live a different life, which would you choose?
As much as I’ve screwed up. I don’t hate my life in the slightest. I think I’d relive this life, providing I’d still be able to go through what made me into who I am today.
What is something about life that people don’t appreciate as much as they should?
I’m guilty of this, so who am I to say anything, but your family. You will eventually drift apart, so in line with my motto, life’s too short to sweat the small stuff, so appreciate your family while they’re still here. You never know what might happen.
What is holding you back from being the person you want to be?
A whole mess of things. I’m not confident enough, for one. Because I’m not confident, I act like I’m somebody I’m not around far too many people, leaving a very minimal timeframe where I can actually indulge in liking feminine things. I tend to put myself down and have mental breaks sometimes, as well. The last few weeks of school were not kind to my psyche.
Also, I don’t try hard enough. I have to try to try and that’s too much to comprehend, so I just skip both steps, which has left me unemployed, useless when it comes to cooking, and becoming dangerously close to someone I don’t like.
If I could create like the optimal AD/HD with the energy and the multitasking but not the brain high susceptible to addiction, than I would.

Spite.
You may laugh, but genuinely. I keep going to prove transphobes wrong. I keep writing trans stories to piss off the people who don’t like trans stories. I act completely unaffected by criticism because it makes these people mad.
You see, I am a very, very petty individual. So if I can keep going to prove some hateful people wrong, than that’s all the motivation I need. Healthy? No. Ethically sound? Probably not. But damn if it isn’t cathartic.

Well, dresses with pockets exist. Though I'd highly recommend people get a purse, regardless of your gender. I carry a purse or fanny pack and I have no idea how people fit all their shit into jean pockets.

Carbs have a funny effect of giving short-term energy but eventually making you crash.
The 8th grade class thing is actually pretty interesting in itself. We were told, as a sort of icebreaker, that we should find a song that’s either poetic or a song that means a lot to us to play to the class. I chose Forest Rain’s Great to be Different preceded with the note that it was MLP fan music and that I liked the show. Pretty much an open book in regards to that for the rest of the year.
