Whinny City Pony Con 2022 Reflections Part 3: Sunday and Monday · 8:42pm Jul 12th, 2022
Sunday and Monday
I meant to finally do the breakfast buffet, but time got away from me, so after another quick breakfast I went to my first panel of the last day, “Bronies React.” I found out from attending this panel that Bronies React is actually a long running YouTube series featuring various Brony YouTubers over the years. I have never watched a Bronies React video before, but after attending this panel I plan on checking one out. The panel itself was about the history of Bronies React. It was fun hearing their stories.
After that, I made one last purchase at the vendor hall, a plushy of the Equestria Daily Mascot. I love buying plushies when I go to these conventions; it is like a tradition for me.
I attended my last panel of the convention after that, “One Tough Mother.” It was a Silver Quill panel in which he talked about Celestia and the mother archetype. It was a very interesting and informative panel.
I checked out Renegade Stage for a brief moment, which was tucked away outside the hotel in one of those tents you see at outdoor weddings.
I then decided to do something I normally didn’t do, attend the Charity Auction. I usually skip it in favor of Closing Ceremonies because I often think the items will be too expensive and while there were some expensive items, there were a good number of cheaper ones too. I found the nerve to actually bid on a couple items and after being outbid on a few items, I finally won something. I couldn’t believe I actually participated in a charity auction and won something! I stayed for Closing Ceremonies where we thankfully learned that there would be another Whinny City, though with no dates yet, and that Ciderfest was still happening. When Charlie asked who has been to Ciderfest, I proudly raised my hand.
The post Con depression didn’t hit me until the next day. I think the high of winning something in the charity auction helped suppress the PCD for a while. Nothing much happened on Monday other than making my way home. I had breakfast from Dunkin’ Donuts at the Rosemont CTA station and picked up some more Nuts on Clark popcorn at the airport, which I highly recommend if you are ever in Chicago. The cheesecorn is my favorite. I will save my final thoughts for the next and last blog entry in this series, but I will say right now that I really enjoyed my time at Whinny City 2022.
