2022 was supposed to be a year of closure. And I've found that ended up being more true than I could have possibly expected. In fact, I'm leaving/moving out of my hometown after 30 years to embark on an exciting new chapter in my life. I've got about one more good year where I'm currently living before I'm gone.
There's a lot of work I've been doing in the background to achieve this goal.
In that same theme, I plan to have Office Love finished before this move. Rereading the story for me has been an ABSOLUTE CHORE. So, I'm going to try something. I'm going to add "Abridged" notation to Office Love.
So, If something isn't going to be important in my "Story Bible" that I'm building, It's going to be put in [] <- these fuckers. And it's not that it's "Skippable" per se, but it's going to make me personally feel better about reading my old shitty writing.
Office Love's completion is going to mark the end of my time as an active member in the Pony fandom. I'm still doing barcast and stuff, but I'm done with Community Guest spots, pony conventions in general, and similar. Partially Financial, as I'm going to be spending those "convention trip dollarydoos" to visit family, but also because, well. I dont feel the spark anymore. I haven't for awhile. I have ideas for writing, but it all boils back to music. I want to write music. I want to lyric craft. And that's where I want to put my energy. If I begin writing a serial story, I'd much rather put it in something similar to the fur fandom so I can develop my own intellectual property rather than piggybacking off of MLP.
Office Love's release structure once I complete it is going to be weekly chapters until It's done. I'm going to write them all up front, then release them weekly. This means I'm not ajusting my vision based on feedback like a traditional serial. But -- I do want to still encaptulate the "Choices matter" aspect of a CYOA/Dating Sim that the story was inspired around. That's where My Story Bible and the Abridged notes are going to be important.
So, lots of news. Little to show. And right now this writing isn't a top priority for me. But that will change as I complete home repair projects and as fall/winter arrive. NANOWRIMO may end up being the "Finish Office Love push"
Damn. I understand leaving the Fandom. The show is over and magic is fading. It's not what it used to be anymore. Do what you need to do man, everyone has to grow and go elsewhere at some point.
For me, it is hard to walk away for me. This place has been a good refuge from life stressors and a happy place of sorts. I don't think I could ever leave, but my desire to write isn't as strong as it once was. Never got to to go to conventions or meet people sadly.
I hope you're successful in whatever you choose.
It was nice to have you around, Priest. Never partook in many of the Barcasts, but I always did like popping my head in to see what stories you wrote. I too have debated leaving the fandom, but I'm sticking it out a little longer to see how I feel about it all. I totally get wanting to leave to do your own thing though; I'm trying to write my own original stories as well and hope to have something out soon.
