Early New Year's resolutions, and Old Year's conclusions

Well, another year's come and gone. How did the resolutions go? Half and half in my case. Managed to partially accomplish what I set out to do, moving from wondering how to do things to figuring out what to do. I believe I've successfully identified the habits that are hampering or even harmful to me, so that's progress.

    Resolutions for the new year?

Summer update 2: What's Sticking to the Wall?

    Quick update on future plans.

Still working on the original stuff, I think I'm down to the last rewrite of what I wanted to do, only question is what to change in terms of details. Art's had some progress, but work responsibilities and sweet, sweet sleeping problems have caused disruptions.

    Summer update: what next?

Honestly? Not sure. I never publish anything that's not complete, so I'm not breaking any promises there. Thing is, I haven't started on anything new yet, and hadn't lined anything up before the previous one.

Summer update. · 1:20pm Jul 10th, 2022

Birthday's come and gone, so how are things? Quick update.

First original story is done, in first draft, written over the course of June. I've learned that I can hit 2k words per day, easy, if I have a basic outline, so that's nice. A few types of scenes I struggle with and need more practice or at least figure out how to trick my mind into getting those out smoothly.

Art-wise: planning to spend July either experimenting or proceeding to finalising some models and rigs. I've already got some progress, two promising set-ups (one for eyes, one for limbs), but no way to know if it works until it's done. And that's just for the rig. For the models, I have a rough draft, morphed that one around a bit to get proportions I liked, but nothing final.

Any ideas for pone? Nothing y'all don't already know. I was thinking of fleshing out the Ocellus beauty contest idea, but all the ideas so far are too creepy. It's under-age characters, and I want it to stay cute and wholesome, but the starting concept is anything but. The Brass Tack/Scootaloo concept has a few new ideas, but I'm running into a wall on one of them there, too: it's too political and dated as it stands. No story outlines as of yet, and only a few scenes along with a romance subplot. Feel free to guess what the ship is going to be.

Have I been catching up on pone? Nope. No clue or motivation to watch the new stuff, and haven't read any stories in my downtime. Given the circumstances, it's more likely I need to re-read some of my original inspirations instead to work out the final issues.

So yeah, July and August will be focused on laying the groundwork for original stuff. It's not so much a big project on its own, but figuring out how to do big projects, if that makes sense, improve my workflow. Put simply: I'm not building a golem, I'm building a golem factory. That's not necessarily more difficult, but it is different and less well-documented. Yeah, if you've ever seen Kemono Friends: the Beaver friend is my spirit animal, seriously. September will probably see me get back to pony and start multi-tasking a little, or taking breaks from one to work on the other.

Anywho, this is Cracker, signing out. Have a happy song on me :raritywink:
