Pinkie Pie is posing with one of AMC’s most famous offerings, and another of The ‘70s Cars That Only AlwaysDressesInStyle Loves™, the Gremlin. Minty’s favorite of the bunch. While I’ve been to hundreds of car shows in almost a dozen states, I’ve never made it to the car show referenced in the story, the Kenosha Homecoming. Unlike most car shows, the Homecoming isn’t annual, instead rolling around only once every three years. Luckily, this is one of the years, and July 26-31 will see the AMCs come home. Unluckily, I won’t be there. With gas hovering around $5/gallon in many parts of the country, I suspect turnout may be lower than in previous years.

This is a great image in more ways than one. Not only is the art well drawn, this is a double reference. We have Pepper and Minty (with their powers combined, they’re peppermint), both of whom are voiced by the incredibly talented Tabitha St. Germain. Aka Rarity. And Granny Smith. And Thistle Whistle. And the spa twins…
Oh, and did I mention Princess Luna? Among others. Many, many others.

In case it isn’t obvious, I ran out of story-related things to talk about a few images ago. But I don’t really need an excuse to post more pics of Minty…
This last one has Minty, and a bunch of other ponies who didn’t actually appear in this fic. It’s also been my desktop image for over a year:
I loved road trips as a kid. My dad was a saint for putting up with the same cassettes being played over and over and over.
Now, I'm pretty sure I'll die young from blood clots in legs. Even a short 5-hour trip over to the other side of Wisconsin for my niece's baptism really took it out of me. And least sitting in front of a computer desk 18 hours a day lets me stretch out.

I'm not really one for modern technology, but I do like having an iPod for car trips. I didn't have a music player of my own until I was a teenager, so there were no kids tapes to play into the ground (which also likely explains why I love '80s music so much, none of our cars had tape decks so it was the radio or nothing). That said, I certainly played VHS tapes of The Care Bears Movie, Scooby-Doo Meets The Boo Brothers, Scooby-Doo & the Reluctant Werewolf, and Dinosaurs: A Fun-Filled Trip Back In Time into the ground. The first remains the only VHS I ever wore out, though the others were likely close...
I still love road trips, and I've done an almost coast-to-coast drive from the Northeast to the Grand Canyon. Twenty states in two weeks! I was in Wisconsin, once, very briefly (a few hours, checking out a Mustang collection). I'd love to get to the Kenosha Homecoming mentioned in the blog or Ponyville CiderFest someday.

If you ever get the chance, bring a pony friend or seapony friend and strap a canoe to the roof and head down to the St. Croix valley for a week.

Sounds like fun, though I don't own a canoe. Nor have I ever gone boating, so I'd be more inclined to rent equipment and let an expert take charge. Besides, my wagon doesn't have a roofrack and I can't picture a canoe strapped to the roof of my Mustang at all.
If gas comes back down, I'd be tempted to put in an appearance at CiderFest in November. I know that's the wrong side of the state, but at least it's in Wisconsin.
The St. Croix river is pretty touristy with lots of conveniences and support.
It's not like up in the BWCA or Michigan UP where you dig holes to poop in and should be more terrified of moose than bears, and should hire outfitters and a guide if you're not Dale and Lyra. Or Baron Gaberdine and Ripple.
Of course, I've never been to Michigan.

Believe it or not, that's one of my favorite stories on this site. I just reread it last week.
Oh my GOD I have another idea. So you’ve already clarified how much more of an impact music has on ponies right? Right.
So what if at some point Main CharacterTM ends up inviting everyone over for a movie night, and while scrolling through Disney+ they go past Hamilton and they’re all like “what’s that?” And MC is all like “oh just some musical” and they’re all like “let’s watch it” and they hit him with the hardcore puppy dog eyes and he caves and they all watch Hamilton. I dunno if you’ve seen it or if you have access to Disney+ but if you watch it for the first time you could take those emotions you feel and multiply them by like 10-20 for the ponies.
It’s 5:30 in the morning why am I still conscious I’m goin to be goodnight yall
