    Back with an update!

Hi! Sorry for the radio silence. Basically took some time off to figure out some real-life stuff and rearrange my living space. BUT I'm back and ready to conclude Undeath and Rebirth in just two more chapters before focusing my efforts on some projects left in the fridge. Speaking of which, after a long thought process and realization that I no longer have full time or energy to commit to certain

Cerise Shilouette

Age 22
Race Thestral (originally an Earth Pony)
Identity Female
Cutie Mark a Bat-Winged Heart with one-half Pink, the other Black
Voice Erika Harlacher

Daughter of Darkness. The peppy offspring of King Sombra and the late Pacific Glow, first introduced in Fire and Shadow. During pregnancy, Pacific was mortally injured by Chrysalis, and Pacific's closest friend, the future Queen Inky Rose, was forced to cut the premature baby from her womb to save Cerise. Uncertain whether the filly would live, Sombra used magic to help sustain the weakened princess, who fortunately survived the ordeal.

Due to the Eldritch invasion devastating her homeworld, Cerise led a sheltered, pampered life, due to her parent's paranoia they would lose her too after all the death they had seen. Cerise was constantly shadowed by guards and not allowed to explore too far into her country, which continued to rebuild itself. But she eventually learned she was a partial reincarnation of Pacific Glow and that Sombra passed some of his dark magic onto the baby to protect her. Miraculously, her natural innocence kept the dark arts from corrupting her. Taking to dance from the moment she could walk, she's mastered the art.

However, Cerise would realize her lack of ambition and come to crave something to call her own. An encounter with one of Beatrix's friends, Midnight Blitzer, would immediately form a crush as Cerise decided to pursue the pegasus knight. The two would later wed, their promise sealed by a pair of matched and enchanted rings lined in runes (her’s silver, his gold) forged by Moon Hammer.

The middle child originally gave up rights to any land to her brothers (White Shadow Penumbra and Ashen Dunes). But after perilous journeys in and outside her homeworld, she later decided to embrace the responsibilities she once feared. Despite her naivety and self-doubts, Cerise remains big-hearted and a loyal friend to Beatrix Belladonna, ready to back her up alongside her husband and friends.

She possesses a sizable fraction of her father's dark magic and geomancy, but her main method of fighting is through her hypnotic dancing.

Tropes

  • Alternative Self: Her cyberverse variant, Eclipsed Heart. She's essentially the same as Cerise but grew up to become a pop diva. With Kitsune and Wispy Willows, they form the band B.A.B.E. It's later revealed that her existence is a result of Beatrix's spatial disruption. At first, she's heartbroken, but some reassurance from her friends and lover that she is her own person. Both Cerise and Eclipsed hope to meet each other one day.
  • Anger Born of Worry: As much as she loves Midnight, his recklessness in battle and 'hyper stallionism' often get on her nerves. Though this is a given since his genetics shorten his lifepan, especially when he hulks out. She constantly dreads the probability that if he's not cured, he won't live beyond thirty.
  • Archnemesis: Doppia in Everywhere and Nowhere. She makes Cerise's already dour trip to the Lost World a living hell after stealing her body and power. Cerise spends the latter half of the story seeking vengeance for the unjust done to her by the Vice Lord's hand. For Eclipsed Heart, Seb is a strong contender.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Despite being the middle child (she's several months older than Ashen Dunes), both her half-brothers treat her as such, much to her annoyance.
  • Badass Adorable: Quite perky and cute, even after she's whipped out her spear and is lunging at you!
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Inherited Sombra's black magic from birth, but was uncorrupted due to how purely innocent she was. She also grew up nothing like her once tyrannical depraved father.
  • Bat People: The dark arts mutated her from an earth mare to a thestral, though she can revert back to her previous form.
  • Battle Couple: With Midnight, though unlike with other pairings, Cerise only really started fighting on par with her husband during Everywhere and Nowhere.
  • Belly Dancer: Her most prominent form of dancing, as she grew up in an Egyptian-style home. Her original outfit even came with bells to jiggle along with her motions!
  • Beta Couple: On the grounds that she and Midnight are a married couple while Beatrix and Oona have yet to tie the knot. Otherwise, both are pretty stable outside of a few glaring weaknesses. They share this trope with Shadow Scythe and Zeloph once they get together.
  • Betty and Veronica: The 'Veronica' to Moonlight's 'Betty', being a spoiled rich girl whose only known life within her kingdom compared to the latter's time training alongside her childhood friend, Midnight. While they don't actively compete for his affection, the story tips the scale in Cerise's favor.
  • Blade on a Stick: Her spear, which is crafted from amethyst quartz.
  • Break the Cutie: Suffers this hard in Everywhere and Nowhere. Cerise learns right off the bat how different adventuring outside her universe is, only able to support her friend in combat. And even then, she's unable to defend herself and comes off as a hindrance than an asset. She later learns that her best friend, Beatrix, shamefully hid the truth of her husband's life-threatening condition right before nearly freezing to death. And to top it all off, Doppia performs a body switch spell and has her husband involuntarily rape her. While the whole ordeal helped her mature, Cerise now has to bares with some traumatic scars.
  • Casting A Shadow: Has a limited range of black magic, only having recently unlocked it through Doppia's manipulations.
  • Character Development: Starts off the series as a naive, undependable mare who was more likely to blame herself for the hardships in her life rather than do anything to fix them. One marriage and a harrowing journey later, Cerise has not only become more self-sufficient but a respectable fighter among Beatrix's band of friends. Her brothers especially take note of how much she's matured and gladly start preparing her for when she needs to step up and rule her own territory as a queen.
  • Charm Person: Not to the extent as Moxxi, but her magic works through her sensual dancing to captivate onlookers.
  • Childhood Friend: Beatrix is this to her, given the witch has been a big part of her life with her frequent visits. Cerise does find it a bit weird that she's slept with her dad on numerous occasions, however.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Both her pigtails and soulful eyes are reddish hot pink.
  • Daddy's Girl: Cerise had a deep fixation on her father, Sombra. The Pony of Shadow used this to its advantage when it took over the dark unicorn in Everywhere and Nowhere.
  • Dance Battler: Thee prominent trope user among the travellers.
  • Dance-Off: She has this in the Banquet of Battle chapters against the wicked ballerina, Doppia. The dance was written in tune to this cover of Camille Saint-Saëns' "the Danse Macabre", with the violin representing Doppia and the piano Cerise. It also foreshadows who wins as, by the end, the violin completely overtakes the piano. The strings even sound like they're laughing evilly while the keys struggles to take back control...
  • Dancing Royalty: Outside of her natural talent, Cerise doesn't learn or develop any other skills outside basic needs. Thankfully, she takes initiative and gets training from Bellatrix.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Cerise got a rude awakening at how hard it would be for her to tag along in Beatrix's quest for Abadonna.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: The purpose of her trance ability. Sometimes, she'll even go so far as to get completely naked to entice her targets!
  • Evil Costume Switch: Briefly when Doppia hijacks her body and wears a form-fitting metallic grey leotard and a glittering translucent tutu. Ironically, the ballerina's garb showed less skin than Cerise's usual outfits.
  • Fatal Flaw: Insecurity. It took her no time to feel like a fish out of water when traveling with Beatrix through the Lost World. When compared to the spell casters, Onoma users, and even her own husband who lacks both, it's not hard to see why Cerise felt inadequate and heavily berated herself for being a nuisance. Doppia plays on this with great effect.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Her current attire consists of a single trapped tank top with contrasting purple hotpants and a thigh-high stocking. Both the strap and sock are on her right side, leaving her left arm and leg exposed.
  • Fire-Forging Friendship: She reaches out to Rhenaes while inhabiting the latter's body. It is through her kindness and love that the equally abused soul helps her put an end to Doppia's madness and reclaim both their stolen forms.
  • Foil: Naturally, Doppia is this for her;
-Both are highly skilled dancers, but where Cerise was naturally gifted, Doppia stole that talent when possessing Rhenaes. Cerise's preferred method is belly dancing to enthrall the audience while Doppia uses ballet to deceive onlookers. Physically, Cerise is plumper in the chest and hips department, making her bouncy. Doppia is pretty frail looking, yet far more nimble. Both also have deep insecurity issues. Cerise believes she can't amount to much on her own when she's in reality, she's just as special as the people she looks up to. Meanwhile, Doppia wants to believe she's superior to deny the fact that, without her underhanded tactics and manipulations, she's nothing except miserable. Finally, Cerise is adored by almost everyone whereas Doppia was loathed even by her peers.
-She also shares quite a few similarities with Moxxi/Ana. Both are sexy, bat-winged charmers with pink coloration. But where Cerise is slightly more reserved and hesitant, Moxxi is always explicit and oozes confidence. Cerise prefers to fight from a safe distance and opposes bloodshed. Moxxi gets up close and personal and has zero problems getting her hands bloody. The two are erotic dancers, but it was more a side hobby for Moxxi than it was a primary skill. And on an interesting note, both have committed incest, though Cerise is completely over those feelings while Moxxi... isn't.
  • Forgiven, but Not Forgotten: Her stance with Zeloph. While the princess has accepted the Fallen One as part of the fold, she makes it clear she won't ever let him live down the fact that he almost ruined her family, used her best friend, and nearly whipped out civilization out of pettiness. Zell even acknowledges that he finds it hard to believe Cerise has forgiven him.
  • Gemstone Assualt: Can summon pillars and shoot crystalline shards like her father. Her spear also counts, being composed of amethyst crystals.
  • Grand Theft Me: Is a victim of this, courtesy of Doppia.
  • Happily Married: With Midnight.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: No matter the universe or variation, this pink-haired princess has a poor opinion of Demi-Humans.
  • Hopeless Romantic: While she doesn't often show it, Cerise has dreamt of the day she finds 'the one.' That day happens in Dearly Beloved, where she and Midnight are wedded by all their friends. This extended to Eclipsed Heart, who falls for the Sixth Measure lead vocalist, Bass.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Played with. Eclipsed Heart's eyes are still hot pink but have an azure hue. They become completely blue when glowing.
  • Involuntary Dancing: It's quite possible she could subject this to anyone caught in her trance if given the right motivation. Cerise herself is subjected to this once Doppia seizes control at the end of their duel.
  • Letmotif: "Shadow Sway", a short, groovy bop that captures Cerise's sweet, friendly nature while inspiring the urge to dance! It contains a few beats from the Vienna Tang song, "Never Look Away", which writer/editor NotaPonyPerson considers the unofficial theme for Eclipsed Heart; being a pop song about love with a futuristic sound.
  • Love at First Sight: The moment Cerise met Midnight, her attraction for him was made clear to everyone except the stallion himself (at first). While probably going into their relationship too fast, it's evident they hold a deep bond full of love and respect for each other.
  • Magic Dance: Her entrancement ability, able to mesmerize all who gaze at Cerise's swaying steps.
  • Magic Singing Idol: Eclipsed Heart fits this to a T.
  • Meaningful Name: Cerise Shilouette, unsurprisingly, is a play on Sombra's name, being a 'red shadow'. Eclipsed Heart likely refers to the Bonnie Tyler song "Total Eclipse of the Heart".
  • Mega Twintails: A mane style befitting for a royal princess.
  • Ms.Fanservice: She's an erotic-themed dancer, wearing scantily clad clothes to better empathize her large breasts and fairly wide hips. It should be noted that in a similar vein to Zeloph and Shadow Scythe, most of her sex scenes are monogamous to Midnight, with the inclusion of one other party (usually Moonlight.) The only time she was against having sex was when she was trapped in Rhenaes' body thanks to Doppia's trickery.
  • Naïve Everygirl: Slightly averted. Even after overcoming most of her struggles and going through cruel and unusual torment, Cerise remains bright-eyed, romantic, and every bit as endearing. It is thanks to the support and love of her friends and family she was able to shed some of her early naivety.
  • Parental Incest: Enforced. The Pony of Shadows used Cerise to lure Sombra into a honey trap for the sake of overshadowing him. Otherwise, she holds only familial love and adoration for her father.
  • Pretty Princess Powerhouse: It takes a long time, but eventually, Cerise grows into this trope, able to combat Doppia while not in her body, and begins to harness the darkness bestowed by Sombra. And her potential for greatness only exceeds as she aids her husband in Prisoners of War.
  • Polyamory: Despite being married, she and Midnight share a herd with Moonlight River, due to the latter's affection for him and to help state his needs as a Hyper Stallion. Cerise personally hopes Rhenaes will join, even after she developed feelings for her brother, Ashen Dune.
  • Red Baron: "the Daughter of Darkness", often used to symbolize her heritage to Sombra.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Is probably the sweetest among the female characters outside Lady Ewe.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Downplayed. Cerise has absolutely no problem getting naked but follows a pretty strict 'look, but don't touch' policy since she's a married woman.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: The reason Cerise fell for Midnight was because of how gentle, kind, and innocent he appeared. And, while oblivious and ignorant at times, she sees the blue pegasus as her one true love. The same could apply to Eclipsed Heart, as Bass is the most level-headed of his brothers and comes to adore her beyond her status as a pop princess.
  • Spoiled Brat: Early one, she could come off as 'self-entitled' due to being the daughter of a powerful ruler. Hell, some citizens and traders in the black district of her kingdom still believe her to be this.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Again, is very much the 'Girly Girl' to Moonlight's 'Tomboy.'
  • You Are Better Than You Think: While she still has some doubts about herself, Cerise gained a lot more self-esteem and reassurance from her peers, friends, and loved ones, even during the hardest of moments.
  • You Can Leave Your Hat On: Loves to give stripteases, whether to distract dangerous onlookers or to entice her loving herdmates.

This page will go through continuous edits as the stories go on. If there are any tropes you think should be added, feel free to make suggestions!
Special thanks to Midnight for helping me compose the music!

An excellent write up as always for one of my favorite characters! She's particularly special to me as unlike my previous OCs, who were made originally as one-shots for specific roles since I wasn't certain they'd be reused, I actually planned out Cerise and her direction more.

Otherwise, my early OCs took some time before I properly settled onto what I wished them to be. I hope to see her blossom more in Prisoners of War!

Happy to work with ya! I like the trope!

She looks hot

I want to see a fanfic about her

We've written several. :twilightblush: Hard to say the best place to begin since many are quite long, but Dearly Beloved on my page (which NotaPonyPerson and I wrote together) might be a good start?

If that's how you want it.

Any readers of our shared OCs are always welcome!
