Thoughts on Jurassic World: Dominion · 6:53am Jun 10th, 2022
Not since 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' have we seen a summer blockbuster with writing this hilariously awful. As a lifelong fan of the Jurassic Park franchise since 1993, it pains me to say that 'Dominion' is the worst film of them all, an overlong, bloated tale that focuses on that annoying clone girl from 'Fallen Kingdom' and locusts destroying Earth's food supply instead of dinosaurs or humanity's struggle against them to see who will rule the planet.
'Dominion' has been billed as the finale to the Jurassic Park series, but there's no resolution to be found, and it's clear Universal intends to milk this franchise until there's nothing left but skin and bones. The only reason to watch it is to see Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcom (the last of which gets the film's most awesome moment), who are as charming and fun as ever, and the animatronic dinosaurs. Everything else, from the characters, to the story, to Blue being barely in the film at all, the much-hyped Giganotosaurus being on screen for less than five minutes, and the horribly misguided focus on those damn locusts, is a disaster.
Don't watch 'Dominion.' Go write your own fan fiction about Grant and Co. fighting dinosaurs in a war to the death; It'll be better than this.
Haven't seen this one, though the last few years of remakes of remakes tought me not to expect anything else.
