New Story! Applejack, Sci-Twi and Sad Pet Feels... · 8:42pm May 10th, 2022
Hello all! It's been a little while since I've made the Mane 7 sad. Clearly that was a situation in need of rectifying. So let's take another trip into the questionably-named "Conversations-Verse"!
I decided to let poor, long-suffering Sunset off the hook for once. Instead, today's entry is all about Applejack and Sci-Twi, as Applejack learns that her beloved Winona passed away while she was off at college. Distraught at both the suddenness of the loss and not being there when it happened, she reaches out to Sci-Twi, who's the only one in the Main 7 who can remember losing a pet before (Fluttershy's presumably seen some pets pass on at the shelter, but Applejack knows that conversation would just end with Flutters being even sadder than her). We get a little backstory for Sci-Twi, Spike and his predecessor as the Sparkle family pet, and some surprising musings from both Twilight on how she dealt with loss.
This was inspired by a coworker who recently lost a pet, which reminded me of some of my own experiences seeing a beloved family pet put down and eventually getting a new one. Definitely rough material to work with (this is my first T, though it's a soft T since there's no direct depiction of violence), but I hope you find it satisfying or at least interesting. Even if you've never owned a pet, I'm hopeful just the character interactions will make it work for you. If you like it, please leave an upvote.
