What I've Been Up To (State of the Author) · 12:54am May 1st, 2022
Anyone who has been in contact with me personally over the last few months knows that my life has gone through a lot of turmoil lately. Medical problems (multiple cancer scares, Covid-19, my youngest breaking her leg), changing jobs (goodbye post office, hello cushy work from home job), relationship problems (divorcing my primary partner and my secondary partner decided to go mono with her primary), moving, finding new roommates to replace my (ex-)wife's share of the financial burden. Life is throwing one curveball after another. I'm holding up as best as I can, under the circumstances.
I'm not here to ask for help, or anything like that. I have a great job now, and once everything settles, I'll have more time to put toward projects than I have in years.
So, what's on my plate right now?
As is likely expected by now, I have an entry for the Wincest Double Trouble contest brewing - a pair of sequels to One Night As Another. I hope to have those out by the middle of May so that I can focus efforts on an entry for the May Pairings Contest (which I won in 2020), but if there's not enough time to churn that out properly, I'll be skipping it.
Then I have a roughly 30k word commission story that I'll be wrapping up and putting out to publish, hopefully by mid-July. It involves a lot of heavy and disturbing content that many readers won't appreciate, but I needed money when I accepted that commission.
By the end of July, I'll be finishing off Them Bloomin' Apples, which I have allowed to languish for far too long on a story that's just one chapter shy of completion.
After that, my priorities are:
- Get out another three chapters of For the Long Haul, which are already written, but need some re-writing done. I've also commissioned a ton of artwork for this story that will soon be featured in a detailed guide to characters.
- A sequel to Evening the Odds where Twilight's family vacation puts them into another one of the king's labyrinths.
- An extremely grimdark story of perverted love and twisted fantasies involving the Apple family
- The next chapter of Finding Yourself. Yes, it's been three holy shit, five years. I'm still going to finish it.
