The Transcendental Sequence Begins · 4:56pm Apr 19th, 2022

Welcome one and all, to Omniverse VIII. The short version: I have published not only a new story, but started a new series of interrelated stories! You see one of them here on fimfiction:

TThe Spark
Mysterious signals ripple through subspace, and the Enterprise is sent to investigate; in the process they take in a small white unicorn far from home...

But there's actually another one! The Lost King, about Gandalf in Ancient Sumeria... Two stories for now, and I promise much more in this complicated Transcendental Sequence.

If you just want to read, go, read, enjoy! The rest of this blog will be here when you get back, if you even care for background information. Bit if you do care, well...

The Transcendental Sequence is a massive multi-story multicross thing. Rather than focusing on one group or one character, the story of Transcendental Sequence will be told as an anthology of other "smaller" stories that range from short stories (The Lost King above) to longer sequential stories (The Spark). There's a brand new multiverse to explore with rules very different from what you've probably come to expect from me and I'm so eagar to share it all with you! And yes, Songs of the Spheres is related to it... somehow. Though it likely won't be obvious how for a long time...

If you want to keep track of the entire Sequence and not just the stuff that'll have ponies, the Spacebattles Main Thread will likely be the best place.

Also fanfiction.net has a version of the story where all published things are put in one place in publish order.

Stories in the Transcendental Sequence:
The Spark: (Star Trek/MLP) Canonically the first published story in the sequence, it's about Sweetie Belle getting lost in the Star Trek world and trying to get home while the Enterprise investigates mysterious subspace signals.
The Lost King: (Lord of the Rings/Ancient Myths) Gandalf ends up in Ancient Sumeria near the city of Uruk, a city that is in dire straights without its King.

Upcoming Stories:
Defining Fate: (Word Girl/Jojo's Bizarre Adventures) Our Fair City is about to be home to a lot of manifesting Stands! Oh no! How will a world of silly cartoon nonsense deal with this? This one will actually go live in three days!
The Distant Princess: You heard me, The Distant Princess will be adapted into the Transcendental Sequence. I marked it incomplete as of today. However, don't expect new chapters soon--every chapter in it is going to be edited and "re-released" on other sites to make sure it fits with the full Sequence's rules. But to those of you who felt like it should continue, you're in luck!
The Liminal Spaces: A world without people, without change... suddenly has someone in it. More people keep getting drawn in...

Questionable Canonicity:
Outer Wilds: Eternal. A tabletop RPG I ran with members of the Discord Server in the Transcendental Sequence setting. I may make it canon one day by writing it into a story, but for now if you like to watch a bunch of idiots try to play an RPG online, go ahead and go nuts.

Rules of the Transcendental Sequence
The Sequence is a multiverse unlike the ones I've written before. There are many deep secrets about it... but there are also a few rules about how it functions that aren't so secret.

1) Portals are one-way only. You cannot see what is on the other side, and you cannot pass through them backward.

2) When individuals travel to a new universe, they gain that universe's Visual Style. However, usually nothing but cosmetic appearance changes, and all powers function as normal unless there's something special about the universe that prevents it.

3) There are no OCs. Every character is either from an already existing franchise, a nameless mook, or what is known as an Alternate Version, or AV. AVs are characters from one franchise placed in the context of another--for example, Mario from Super Mario as a Lieutenant in Star Trek's Starfleet. This is one of the main draws of the sequence; virtually everyone has to be constructed from a character template and a world template. At the end of this announcement there's actually a link to a survey you can use to make your own AVs! (Any OCs that seem to exist are either A) not really OCs and just obscure AVs B) exist for special meta reasons or C) are taking advantage of loophole abuse.)

4) Any and all long-term prophecies have been completely ruined. The further ahead someone looks into the future, the more likely it is to be completely trash. Multiverse travel ruins prophecies, yo.

There are more rules of the Sequence, but they are hidden--though most of them have been talked about in some capacity on the Discord Server if you're interested in really digging into it.

Meta rule: I ACTIVELY encourage people to write sidestories in the Sequence, but in order to not give me a headache, absolutely nothing is canon to the Sequence unless I write it. This is for a few reasons--to keep me from having to correct people who make mistakes about secrets of the Sequence so they can stay secrets and to avoid conflicting ideals in the themes.

Meta rule 2: while I have not decided for sure EVERY franchise that is in the Transcendental Sequence, there is a finite number, and that means there will be a lot that simply do not exist in the Sequence. There are meta reasons for this, but the primary reason is just because I don't want to write certain things. Naturally, since all sidestories are noncanon you can ignore this with reckless abandon.

Would you like to create your own Alternate Version for potential use in Transcendental Sequence? Look no further than HERE! And even if you don't want to make one, you can look at all the others everyone has created HERE

And with that... I hope you'll continue with me on this massive, ridiculous journey. It will be an extremely long ride, but one I hope we all will enjoy.

One last thing. If Songs of the Spheres was a story about Endings... this is a story about Beginnings.

((Edit: and why today, of all days? Well, it's April 19th, otherwise known as the day SotS ended. Happy endingversary!))

Well, this should be very interesting indeed. I may have to get more involved in your Discord server just to keep track of it all. (No promises, sadly. There's a lot on my plate as it is.)

While I would love to see you more active, the other options for you are the Spacebattles Thread and the Fanfiction.net version both mentioned in the blog post.

Understandable. Most people who see you around the site tend to wonder what kind of insane plate you have that can fit all your current stuff.

I like how to celebrate the ending of your big multiverse fic, you're writing a big multiverse fic.

I have no sense of scale.

I have come to believe this is a good thing.

Looking forward to this one :D

First of all, I'm glad you're thinking of writing something!

Secondly, the "rules" do not apply to any stories written by other people, since you don't have to worry about canon at all as only things I write are canon. Even if the rules were to prevent it, there's no reason you can't write it anyway.

Thirdly, to actually answer your question, There is nothing against AVs meeting the original versions. Each/almost every universe has a Mario, for instance, eventually two of them are going to run into each other, and the Mario universe certainly exists.

Hope that clears things up.
