Project updates · 5:03am Mar 27th, 2022
Hello, folks. It's been a hot minute since I did a little refresher on what I've still got going on. I'll give a brief update on each below.
Mercy for One
I've recently used Chrysalis in a few stories, in a lighthearted role, and I think she's worked there.
This story will not be so pleasant (it's not grimdark, heavens no). She's a villain, and doing evil things is kind of her thing, so it's time to get back to it. This story is set post Twilight's ascension to the throne.
Current status: Chapter 1 is done minus some revision, Chapters 2 and 3 are mapped out and just need to be written. Hoping to have this out in the next few weeks. While I won't drop all the chapters at once, I don't intend to publish until they're all ready to go.
Stone Sober Sovereign
Coming along fairly well. You'll forgive me if I go a little more over the top with this one, but since it's going to absolutely be the last hoorah for this series that doesn't have a name beyond "Drunk Princess Trilogy", I'm pulling out all the stops. Let it be said that Cadance is going to have an absolute blast.
To whet your appetites, a small excerpt.
After recovering from the Royal Guard Hangover Cure, Twilight had sworn to never drink alcohol again.
Upon hearing this, Cadance had smiled and nodded, thinking that was all well and fine, and that Twilight would probably break that oath by the end of the week. Then Twilight had, in Shining Armor’s words, gone a bit…Twilinanas.
Decrees had rapidly been passed banning the consumption, sale, or manufacture of all alcoholic beverages in all of Equestria. The Equestrian Temperance Authority had been formed to enforce these decrees, and given entirely too much latitude in how they could enforce them.
When Princess Luna had ended up in jail after being found inebriated near one of the fountains in Canterlot, it had only been thanks to Princess Celestia’s timely intervention that the government hadn’t been overthrown by the next night. After that, the most influential ponies in Equestria had all come to an agreement.
Twilight Sparkle had to be stopped.
It's kind of a horse race (hah) at this point as to whether this or Mercy for One comes out first.
The Baltimare Affair
Progress on this one has been a little slow, coupled with my recent reduction in output. Life stuff has kept me rather busy, which has honestly led to delays in all sorts of projects. I'm finally getting things dusted back off, but we're still a while out for this one. I do have another longer excerpt from later in the story I may post next week if I have time to clean it up a little.
Blueblood the Burdened
Everypony knows Prince Blueblood is spoiled, foppish, and most critically, an ass. Nopony would ever take him to be a serious threat - merely a small obstacle to their plans.
That's by design.
I think you can guess where this one likely ties into. It's about 60% done, but it hasn't been a priority. Perhaps when I get a few of these others done. Yes, Blueblood might seem to be the unorthodox choice, but trust me when I say the core of this one is a gem (no, that's not a Rarity reference).
Fallout: Equestria -- Milk Run
You didn't think I'd write a vignette like A Day Like No Other and never use any of that character work again, did you?
It's going to be a hot minute before I really start work on this, but the rough plot is storyboarded out already. Rest assured, the bulk of my output will still be the stuff you're used to, however, I write things primarily for me, and this story is something I want to work on. This will be a prequel to the original FoE, but will endeavor to not simply retread old ground (it's also not going to be 500k+ words long).
That's enough updates for now, I think. I've got 1-2 other shorts I may decide to clean up for publishing if these others keep taking longer than I expect, but they're not stuff I really feel the need to promote.
To close (secretly this is the whole reason I made this blog post, I just didn't want to post only the video), a bit of music.
The start to about 1:15 really fits the tone of the first chapter of Mercy for One quite well, I find.
Also, no, Gran Turismo 7 is not why I've been slower to release stuff lately. I promise.
