Let's talk about cars. Specifically Car insurance. My fiance has been using State farm but it's been costing him 900 dollars two times a year, and it always lands right around the time we owe rent. Unfornately, I don't make enough money to help out much with our current rent, so I handle groceries and other smaller needs, like house stuff. I just got this adorable pineapple kitchen towel, but anyways.

My question to you all, is what's a good insurance you might recommend? Because 900 even two times a year is a bit much. We are shopping around, and I figured why not ask my followers and maybe someone here can lead us in a better direction.

Saddly, I live in a diferent country, so my knowledge is less than useless to you.
Good luck finding a good car insurance though!

I'm no expert in car insurance, but unfortunately I think your rates largely depend on where you live. My friend lives in Detroit and there the rates are one of the highest in the US. As for me, I simply don't own a car. I travel by bus, or carshare if I really need it. With most carshares, gas, insurance, and parking are included. Not sure if that is an option for you.

I've heard anecdotally of a website called Zebra to compare car insurance rates between different companies? But I've never used it so I can't say much about it.

Can't really help with that, maybe try finding one that lowers their rates based on safely you drive.

There's a few of them, can't quite remember right now but it's worth looking at.

900 twice a year is extremely high. I use the same company and mine isn't even half that.

Consider what is affecting the rates, ask for discounts, and consider if you're over-covered or if your deductible is too low. It's not necessary to cover excessive property damage or other things if you don't need them. Unless your guy is driving a pretty high-brow car or he's got a terrible driving record, there's no reason to have such a high rate.

Work it out with State Farm and, if they can't help you, consider walking (or threatening to walk... sometimes they'll cut deals to retain you). GEICO is pretty good for cost, but I had better luck, discounts, and service with State Farm.

my family hand the same problem but ours was like 1,000 or higher can't remember we did what your doing now searched till we found cheaper rates we now use liberty mutual and it cut our rates over half. might work for you too might not but you can try hope this helps.
