My Little Pony G5 News 03/25/2022 · 5:04pm Mar 25th, 2022
Can this show impress me... in five minutes?
GOOD AFTERNOON, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for Generation 5 and beyond! More than a month ago, I've been dishing out all the news I can tally up in regards to the upcoming G5 series set to air later this year (All while some 'Undercover' prick keeps spewing garbage over his disdain). With less than two weeks to go, I can graciously declare that we've got some new material to bring into light. But before we get into the heart of this blog itself (If the picture alone doesn't give it away), we have a slight bulletin to make in regards to the 'comic' line of the series.
The artist behind this cover better be in line for a raise.
Coming up this May, IDW Publishing will have full-color comics of the 'My Little Pony: A New Generation' series, slated to take place after the events of the movie feature our new 'Mane 5' line-up. Two issues are currently slated to be published, one for May as per mentioned with a second issue slated to be released next June. Both issues pretty much follow the same plot, and I quote:
Join Sunny, Izzy, Zipp, Pipp, Hitch, and their trust sidekick Cloudpuff as they explore a brand-new Equestria following the magical events of the hit Netflix movie!
Looks like we can declare this little puffball the new Spike, so to speak...
That is NOTHING like me!
Anyways... we pretty much get the gist of what's to come during these issues. Now with Equestria's ponies slowly coming together as one again, least three fractions of that world, suddenly something goes wrong involving the crystals being stolen. The identity of the thief remains unknown at this time, but I'm pretty sure a certain some 'pony' took it because he'd like nothing more than to spark up another war...
IT WAS 'ONE' TIME!!!
Expect a ton of surprises to take place during the comics (Regardless if they are as canon with the series as the 'FIM' comics were to the television run). But one aspect of the plot to note is that our heroes will finally get to see 'Canterlot', thereby reestablishing the connection this series has with G4. Although it should be note that judging by one of the covers, it's not been as glamorous as it used to be. In fact it is safe to say that what's left of it is like parts of the city in 'West Side Story' when they are about to be demolished...
Imagine if that's Discord's horn... something 'really' bad must've happened.
Now without any further delay, Hasbro's Ignite 2022 Presentation has bestowed upon us some promotional material for their upcoming 'Tell Your Tale' segments set to be released in April. Now when I previously discussed this series, I made it clear that it seemed more like a 'comedic' approach in comparison to the direction of 'Make Your Mark' which I feel will be the more story-driven series (But until we see what it has to offer, I'm just speculating). In the meantime, we have plenty of images and even a 30 second clip of the series itself to give us a slight idea as to what we can expect moving forward. For now, we start with the images:
It's Friday, Friday! Gotta get down on Friday...
Oh wow... Sprout's fixed up the lighthouse nicely...
You're welcome!!!
Now that's a 'Castle in the Sky'...
Judging off the series based off the artwork of this series alone, I will admit it actually looks beautiful. Sure we've had the odd complaints from fans who compare the style of animation for the cast with similar cartoons under that style, I will give them credit for giving the series something bright and colorful. At least in terms of graphic designs and layouts, we can argue against my previous statement that we got another 'My Little Pony Tales' at the moment as the animation through these slides feel like a CLEAR improvement. But pictures can only give away so much, hence why we've also received a special 30 second clip on one of the episodes which not only gives us an idea as to what we can expect from the show, but grants us some first impressions on our new cast:
I will admit some of the animation is a bit give or take, especially with the mouth movements, which sort of makes the animation look a bit... 'stiff'. I can honestly I don't think the animation for the 'cast' will be greatly liked by the fans. Now the use of the 'new' cast on the other hand... we can hear how they almost try to sound like the original performers who portrayed the Mane Five, though at the same time I think it feels like the show wanted to cast more 'younger' actors to actually make them sound like teens. Granted, this is just a preview clip (If the numbers don't give it away) which this clip is pretty much 'half dressed', without the music to go with it. Be sure to enjoy this clip while it lasts because it won't be too long until eventually Hasbro throws in those 'Cease and Desist' clips and next thing you know YouTubers who managed to save this clip will have another thing to worry about. Though looking at this clip at the moment... I will say the girls went all out just for a lighthouse where they can all 'stay' together.
Overall, I still may have some slight bit of skepticism surrounding this whole series...
Wow... that's a big surprise...
*Frowns* We do have to recall that one of our series is strictly made for the 'comedic' side of this series, so we can't expect anything serious or for that matter next level animation. True, this looks like a series where it had 'plenty' of room for growth and it may not look a hundred percent presentable at the moment. But before we frown down upon some material before really giving it a shot, we do have a few additional weeks to prepare should we still feel compelled to explore what 'Tell Your Tale' has to offer. Least there'll be some characters we still enjoy watching (Though it's unknown if the other characters will appear or who's been cast for their parts), and I'm sure whatever 'adventures' they have will be harmless enough. And who knows? To our surprise this series could grow a huge length of popularity than we would've expected and depending on the reception of the series, up until 'Make Your Mark' arrives, maybe this series will eventually improve.
But the bigger question remains: What do you think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.
Until then faithful readers, this is the Dramamaster829... signing off!
What do I think?
I'm questioning how the comic art looks better than the animation art-

And the art in the 'comics' is just from the cover art alone. Kind of makes you wonder where all that time is spent on.
5646232
Yeah...I just wonder why we can't have the G4 animation
5646233
You'd just have to ask the two studios and why that couldn't happen. Maybe because they were scared if they used the very similar animation from G4 it would give the fans all the more reason to compare G5 with G4, and how this series will continue to live under its shadows. But even if that was the argument, that don't mean they couldn't have 'tried' to make a better series.
Still, this is mainly a 'YouTube' series and we've still got 'Make Your Mark', which has 'tons' of material to work with.

Well, true...
Another awesome blog with lots of top tier info Drama, i'm excited esp. for the G5 comic series, i'm on the shifting scale when it comes to the G5 "Tell Your Tale" series (still giving it a chance) and i like the voice actors (it's a plus). Looking forward to it all. Stay cool, stay classy Drama XD
I'm sure the voice actors will get to use of it. I mean just compare Applejack's voice back at season 1 to
9.
For me the series is not that bad for a YouTube series.
Also they are also living in the same roof now? Boy this will be interesting.
Sorry Spike! We Still Love Ya Though!
Robin Williams: What are you doing, West Side Story in the aisle? "Going down the aisle! Crazy aisle!"
Scar: NO! No. Anything but that.
Whoa! Gives me Ponyo vibes... & Little Mermaid vibes too of course.
HA HA! My Man Knows!
That looks fucking Gorgeous! Laputa eat your fucking heart out!
Well I skimped out on "Pony Life" so...
...What the fuck have I got to lose with this?
(Sigh) Ahh well, I'll give a shot.

The comics do looks rather promising from what I'm hearing. The 'Tell Your Tale' series will be a slight give or take, but at least the cast selected for the Mane 5 are remarkably good. One of them I know was a member of the 'Turning Red' cast.

It is true what you say. Applejack's voice was rather high during the earlier seasons, but overtime (If we pay close attention) her voice became deeper over the course of the series. We would almost assume it was because as Applejack was growing older, eventually her voice changes. But as mentioned before, it could be the part of the voice actor getting so use to the role that in which case she tried a different voice more suitable for Applejack.
Perhaps for a YouTube series we'll learn to grow rather attached to what there is to offer. And if what we are witnessing from this one clip is true, it is likely a possibility that the girls decided to live together in one spot while staying in Maretime Bay. After all, in that one video game, they were all staying in that town so that would only add to the clues. That if Sunny's friends weren't entirely happy in their own homes, they would feel a sense of 'peace' staying with Sunny in one location.

Most of the animation for the backgrounds are definitely beautiful. As long as this series does not go for any toilet humor, perhaps I may go easy on this series. I just have a mere preference when it comes to 'comedy' in a sense.
