Let's Go To The Movies! · 2:21pm Mar 22nd, 2022

Been able to watch a few movies lately, some old and others new. So I've decided to share a few silly thoughts on each one and give a rating.

Scream 2022: 8/10

A very fun Scream movie with Ghostface at the top of their game! Brutal and still a wise ass, yet the movie is dragged down on a second watch. Some characters are just fodder, others annoying and the death of a legacy character is a real bummer. Still better than Scream 3.

The Batman: 7/10

Is it just me? Or was the Riddler half intimidating and half cringe? :rainbowlaugh: Each villain here is more meh than the last, except for Collin as Penguin, he was a bright spot. Battison was rawr and in charge, I enjoyed his more lost in the work portrayal, I'd figure Batman would be obsessed towards the beginning.

Cat Woman was Sassy and awesome, could've used more Alfred though. Probably would watch again.

Spiderman No Way Home. : 10/10.

Just one if not the best Spiderman movie, I'mo.

That is allI.

Encanto: 10/10.

The rare movie in which the more I rewatch, I'm finding new gems about it. Or noticing fun background things, the music is just fabulous and the message is spot on! Idk, I just adore this movie on so many levels.

Turning Red: 8/10

Absolutely adorable movie about growing up as a young woman, it's quirky and the hidden messages are just so cute. I loved it to death, though it's not a movie for everyone, it's still a fun watch.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre : 6/10.

Boy is this movie dumb. Unlikable characters, no real depth of characters, or even a strong plot.

But if you just shut off the brain, this movie is really a fun brisk slaughterhouse ride.

Just...So, so, so dumb.

1. That does seem to be an issue when it comes to a movie like the recent 'Scream' movie. It starts off strong at first like a tight offense in a basketball game, hitting most of the three pointers, but then it starts to slow down by the second half and that's not usually a good thing. But it sounds as though some fans still enjoyed it.

2. My family and I actually want to try to see this movie this weekend if possible. I hear good things about this movie and hope to give it a shot.

3. Sounds like it is the 'best' Spider-Man movie so far. Not just a strong follow-up to the Holland series, but a shoutout/love letter to the previous film franchises that came before.

4. Probably one of Disney's best movies in the 'Walt Disney' animation studios series. It's a Disney movie that doesn't need a villain or a world saving plot. But rather it touches on the aspects of family and the struggles to meet expectations. Arguably, I'd say this is one of the few Disney movies of our generation that really touches on issues we can relate to.

5. True this movie is not for everyone and we can understand 'why' to some degree. But for me, after seeing this movie on premier day, I felt touched by the message and the themes that its director touched on. True, there is room for improvement especially if they decide to turn this into another franchise for Pixar. That being said the characters are memorable, the backgrounds are simplistic yet eye-catching, the music is soothing, and you can feel the emotional impact. Plus, this is the Pixar movie that dared to add some elements most Pixar films wouldn't have the guts to divulge on or reference. And for that, this movie has my respect.

6. I'll admit I didn't have high expectations for this movie. I saw this movie 'only' once and I agree that it honestly lacked the qualities that could've given us the best TCM movie since the remake (If not just the original). Otherwise, this movie is what it is... a slaughterhouse ride where all we care about is seeing Leatherface kill people and nothing more. Even when it tried to include a theme involving one of the main characters, I felt it didn't do enough to recover from the film's otherwise notable flaws. Maybe if it took more risks especially with Leatherface, we could've had a better movie.

Still need to watch The Batman

The whole war between Turning Red is ridiculous and I side with the fans of it.

Interesting thoughts like always.

5645378
Batman is pretty fun, overall.

5645378
Is there even any real need for a 'war' at all? As someone who's seen 'Turning Red' multiple times, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. And no matter how many times that one guy across the street tells me, it's just never going to sink in so he might as well just give up. I won't budge.

5645380
A pleasure as always. Really pleased to have you back.

5645383
I don't see why people are fighting at all too, I guess people need to gripe about something.

5645384
Thank you, Bryce.

5645385
We know how complicated human beings can be. They always want to gripe about something because they can't stand the peace and quiet. I mean it's not like I'm expecting 'Turning Red' to be nominated for next year's Oscar for 'Best Animated Feature' but I'm pretty confident it's going to land a spot.

Least on a more positive note, there's been talk of expressing 'interest' in making a follow-up for the movie. Whether that be a sequel film or a follow-up series or even a short or two is still up in the air. But until we do get a confirmation, the most we get right now is a subject of interest on the director's part (The very same woman who gave us that 'Bao' short).

5645387
Yeah, I knew that.

Bao, was really sweet, I hope her career continues to grow. She's a lovely storyteller.

5645389
She's already made history of sorts for this being the first Pixar film to be solely directed by a woman, in which case Domee Shi. True, Brenda Chapman was the first female director but she had to share it with Mark Andrews when they did 'Brave'. Hence why Shi stands out because she not only directed the movie herself, but a majority of the development team (Big difference compared with the cast) are all women (As the documentary explains). If anything, some would call it a breath of fresh air.

5645391
Always awesome to experience something fresh.

5645392
Now afterward Pixar will be covering 'Lightyear', a supposed origin story of the popular Buzz Lightyear toys, and we can pretty much tell it's mainly going to focus on the more epic nature. Like if Andy was inspired by either a movie or a television deal that explored the exploits of Buzz Lightyear, his Space Ranger team, and the fight against Emperor Zurg, sworn enemy of the galactic alliance.

After that... who knows what Pixar will do? But Walt Disney's Animation Studios line has an upcoming film 'Strange World'. That should be... interesting. Don't really know all the details right now.

5645393
I'm honestly unsure what to think about lightyear.

5645395
I mean visually it looks impressive. And I'm all for some good action. I'm willing to give the movie a chance at least. My issue is whether this movie will provide some clever twists. Still, the director behind the movie has put together a few decent shorts for 'Pixar'. Who knows? Maybe it'll be an impressive addition to the series.

5645397
Same here, I'm looking to give it a chance.

5645398
So, you think after this 'Batman' movie we can honestly add to how Pattinson no longer has to be referred to as the 'Twilight' guy?

5645399
Lol, you just know it'll never die down for some people.

But I found him awesome.

5645407
He's had quite a few strong roles over the years. Why he even got to share some screentime with Will Dafoe in that one 'Lighthouse' movie that emphasized the insanity of two men stuck on an island with a lighthouse of which also involved some slight paranormal activity. Could you imagine that? Stranded on that God forsaken rock and with very little supplies, not to mention hardly any contact with the outside world?

5645411
That was a frightening surreal movie, and I really enjoyed it.

I love movies that are so dream like.

5645418
As far as frightening movies go, I hear that A24 picture 'X' has received some positive reception. A callback to 70s slasher movies.

5645425
I know!

Been hearing good things, trying to find it, to see it.

5645429
I actually hoped to see that movie as well, given I do enjoy horror features myself. If I don't get to see it in theaters, I'll at least rent it when it hits Redbox or something.

5645430
Same here, But I'd totes love to see it on the big screen!

5645433
Well, here's hoping we both get that chance in some form. I also hear that we are finally getting some trailers for that long awaited 'Avatar 2', which has been in discussion since 2009.

5645448
Hope so!

Wow, sounds coo!

5645449
What looks 'cool' is that picture you used of having Twilight and Sunset going to the movies together. Either as a movie night between two best friends... or a potential date.

5645450
Lol, yeah it's totes adorable!

Eeee. I liked Turning Red as well!

5645457
I know right!

So unbelievably quirky and awesome!

Saw Spider-Pone: No Way Home in the theater on my birthday back in January. It was really good. Oh, and by the way....

*Boop!* (\ /)

5645466
~Boop~

Hope you're doing fabulous!

5645467 At the moment, I'm okay.

5645633
Sending my prayers, your way.

5645721 Thanks, silly pone. Sending snoot boops your way. (\ /)
