Happy Birthday To Me · 5:47pm Mar 17th, 2022
Today is my birthday. My age is the answer to life, the universe, and everything. It is also the first birthday without my mom, who passed away 4 months ago from COVID.
I don't know how many of you read my blog posts, but I would like to offer some advice if you are: hold your loved ones close. Hold them tight. Dote on them. Let them know you love them, and never take their presence for granted.

Words don't do it justice, but trying anyway is the least I can do: I am so sorry to hear that. My condolences for your loss.
I hope that you can find something to smile about today despite those circumstances. I hope that maybe, you can enjoy the day on some level anyway.

Thank you. I do miss her voice. Last year, I walked into her room, and she was in her hospital bed. She saw me come in, and with the biggest grin on her face she said "hey there, buddy! I birthed you 41 years ago today!" and I just keep seeing that and I miss her so much. My mom was a truly good, gentle heart. There were no strangers around her, only friends. Thank you so very much for the well wishes. *hugs*
It sounds nice. And at least your memories aren't tainted by arguments. I feel like that's worth a lot.
I hope the aftermath is treating you well. And I hope you had a decent party.

Thank you. Yeah, my mom was my first and best friend. I feel very fortunate to have had that, even though she's gone now.
As for my birthday, it was just a quiet day, nothing of note.

Mostly otherwise. I'm currently on a medication that suppresses my immune system, and where I live COVID is rampant. I already have a number of health issues that make me susceptible, so I just kind of stayed home. Plus, I took care of my mom for about 12 years, and I don't really have any friends anymore, they all moved away, so... that kind of adds to it. There's not much life in my life. lol

That sounds tough. I'll try to abstain from using the obvious phrases. Instead, I'll just go with this: I have a birthday calender. Because my memory is horrible. The 17th is now marked with a name.
