Can anybody recommend a good story/novel publishing site? · 11:46pm Mar 9th, 2022
I'm currently looking for a professional publisher to pick up a manuscript I'm working on, but in the meantime I'm looking for some corner of the internet where hobby writers such as myself can post and critique stories. I like fimfiction, and I plan to continue writing for this site, but I'm looking for other places where I can post my non-pony work. To give you an idea of what I write, I'm strictly a fiction writer of steampunk oriented sci-fi/fantasy and gothic horror. I also do short stories, novellas and novelettes (as well as the occasional poem). If anybody can point me in the direction of a good site, it'd be much appreciated.
P.S. I don't mind if the site has a paid subscription service, but it has to have a free version. I refuse to open my wallet for anything I can't even sample.
You can always try Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing...

I'm not using KDP to publish my manuscript. Amazon's kindle service is okay for people who have a youtube or social media following; somebody with an actual presence that can advertise for themselves. A recluse such as myself, however, would be better off submitting my manuscript to a reputable publisher that can get my name out there and my book on store shelves.
A little late, but Royal Road is a good site for criticism. Readers are allowed to comment normally on individual chapters, but stories can also be Reviewed, most reviewers are fair, and receive thumbs up or down on their Reviews based on their authenticity or deceit. Reviews are mostly 0-5 star overall ratings with additional comments by the author of the Review, but they can also be divided into sections by more invested Reviewers: Overall, Style, Story, Grammer, and Character. Which are individually rated with their own stars.

I'll have to check that out. Do they accept unfinished works?

Of course. Most of the stories on there are unfinished. In fact on their front page they have different featured pages for their complete, incomplete, and top stories.
