Deleted stories are kept in the archive. Since delta patch is binary diff over previous version, same applies.

i.e. Even Rainbows Fade story by Pracca was deleted by author quite a while ago - but it's still in current release:

Now, if the author decided to replace whole story with single page saying goodbye, that's harder. You have to download archive release that still has the story. I downloaded everything starting from 2014 just in case

edit: well, apparently there's a precedent for removing things from archive by archiver himself same rule applies, download everything, have a copy off-site

I have another question, can you move the files of an old archive to the new one without unzipping it?

I ask this because I don't want to lose the stories that may be removed in the new one and so I don't have multiple on my PC.
