From the Dawn of Time Appendices: Coasts, Cavegriffs and Calaquendi

Hello everyone, I do hope you enjoyed your trip to the neolithic and weren't too disappointed that it took place in the back end of Griffonia. If you were, then this blog ought to set things if not straight, then at least smooth the crumples.

Reform Appendices: Parliament, Princesses and Peerage

Hello everyone, I do hope you enjoyed the beginnings of Luna's reforms! I've been blown away by the responses to it thus far, thanks so much. We'll definitely be seeing more of Luna in the hopefully near future, and perhaps of Buff Envelope as well at some point.

Silver, Sir Humphrey's militant cousin and a progress update

Yesterday, the results of the Fifth Annual Equestria at War Writing Contest came in, and to my surprise my entry Teething Troubles came second!
Do have a look at the other fics on the podium and the honourable mentions, if you haven't already.

Equestria at War Writing Competition 2022

Wow, a year already. Or a bit more. I sadly missed the one year anniversary of Prologue's release, but that isn't the point of this blog. I haven't released anything for a while, and that's for the reason that I've had to do a major rework of the first book of the Quenta Roccolie for numerous reasons mentioned in the butterfly woes blog. It'll be worth the wait. Hopefully.

    Context at last!

Hello, and happy Maglor Day! After much wrangling of translations and head scratching over graphics, I am pleased to unveil in overglorious fashion a simple map of the mythical Kingdom of Tailte Sioc:

Butterfly woes, Ao3 and Fëanorian week 2022 approaches · 4:49pm Feb 21st, 2022

Hello, to open my first blog post, I'd like to thank everyone who's read my three currently released fics, and especially those who have provided feedback and support. Checking FIMFiction in the morning and seeing an extra like, or a notification that I've been added to someone's bookshelf does wonders for my motivation, since it means people are actually enjoying the tripe I spout. So yes, thank you all.

I have three main pieces of news to deliver on this windy winter day, so let's get to them.

First off and as anyone who's been following my progress tracker (patent pending) will already be aware, I am currently editing chapter twenty of my first longfic. This means that I am about 66% of the way through this second to last phase of production. Once complete, I'll hand off to my beta readers and pray they don't despise every paragraph of it.
Unfortunately, the degree to which I am having to edit is increasing exponentially as I push forward. In part this is because simply put, my writing skill when I laid the first draft was much less than it is now. Mostly though, it's the butterfly effect as I have to adjust dialogue and character mindsets based on the continuity changes inflicted by earlier edits. Most prominently, a calendar error early in the story (chapter three, to be exact) meant that an important character who was present in the original chapter 20 now cannot be without raising serious issues with what they're supposed to be doing, which means an almost complete rewrite. Probably this is a good thing to be honest, since it gives Rose more sorely needed time in the limelight.
Regardless, with the second story arc of the book closing soon however, this ought to ease off. Hopefully...

Túrin had much the same mindset regarding his curse however, so I'm not counting my chickens.

In the nearer future, I plan to be releasing several shorts. One will feature Aquileia, a major Griffon nation in the EaW setting, while another few will be largely on Ao3 (Archive Of Our Own) as part of an equipment lore series centred on the War of Wrath, a pivotal conflict within Tolkien's Legendarium. If you like high-tech Elves, be sure to check that out. Some EaW equipment lore meant to supplement the main story and shorts will be posted here as appropriate in my upcoming drabbles anthology.

On that note, I now have an Ao3 account, The_Great_Scribbly_One (imaginative, I know) in order to improve accessibility and also as a disaster-proofing measure, though equine purists will likely not care about or be affected by this overmuch. All EaW fics will get a week of exclusivity on FIMFiction prior to copying to Ao3 going forward.

Finally, we arrive at the actual reason I made this blog entry: Fëanorian week!
For those unaware in this equine realm, the third week of March every year is when the Tolkien community floods the internet with content pertaining to their favourite 'disaster family'. This year, the week runs through the 14th to the 20th, and while I'm unsure if I'll be able to produce something for each son of Fëanor, not to mention the mad genius himself and his long-suffering wife, I will definitely be releasing something for the 15th: Maglor day.

Why does this matter with regards to FIMFiction? Well, for those who did not catch the hints, technically No Sudden Flame is a crossover with the Silmarillion. I fully intend to explore just how the second son of Fëanor came to be a fixture of the frigid wastes of northern Griffonia...

Very cool! Fëanorian Week will finally be an excuse to use my own A03 account as well, I suppose.
