If I ever manage a website... · 5:57am Dec 10th, 2012
I will find a format that works. I will set it up so it is equal parts aesthetically pleasing, user friendly, and functional.
And I will not change it.
Ever.
I don't want to make any more a fool of myself so lemme just say what needs to be fixed right now:
1) None of the chapters in my faved stories list are marked 'read' anymore. Everything is marked 'unread.' There were some things I was saving for later and now I don't know what I've read and what I haven't.
2) The featured box needs to go back onto every page. not just the front page. I almost NEVER visit the front page anymore. The way I found fanfiction was through the featured box, and I found it on the fly, while reading other fanfics. I cannot do this anymore. User friendliness -200
As of right now, those are my two big beefs (though I will say the giant icons in the comments sections is incredibly distracting, but whatever). Most of my other complaints are aesthetic complaints, like things looking really square and blocky and the header images being hella distracting instead of just cute little pics like before. Those I'll get used to with time (though I'd rather not have to) but you know what? Just... fix those two big ones and I'll stop complaining I guess... unless I find another game breaker.

Also, those who are waiting for more Ponyfall... I've finished moving and my grandfather has been mourned and buried. The story is still at somewhat of a standstill for now though. I can only offer my apologies for that. I guess you could say I'm trying to find the will to write again. I find myself opening a word program and just... staring. And I want the words I know are in there to come out but they won't. And then when I start forcing them out, suddenly I feel exhausted. It's not pleasant. I'm just not having a good time trying to write right now, and I'm not sure what I can do about it. I'll be sure to let all of you know.
My deepest apologies to the rest of the Ponyfall team as well. I can't tell you how sorry I am. I really wish I had contributed more by now.
My main beef with the new site, in addition to the technical issues is the color scheme. Too cold, too clinical. I liked the warm tan and sepia hues of before.
Oh, that and the fact some of my favorite authors are jumping ship because of it.
As for being too exhausted to write - don't be sorry. Life is tiring, and sometimes you just need a long rest. I was the same when we buried my grandma in April. Never ever force writing - not only will it be of lower quality than you're capable of producing, it also won't be fun. Writing when it's not fun will reduce your inclination even further next time - and that's how stories end up cancelled.
FimFiction will still be here when you're ready to continue. As for what state of functionality it'll be in... well, who can say?
Take it easy, my good sir.
