Guys, Scream (2022) is pretty good · 7:10am Jan 21st, 2022

Just finished watching Scream (2022) a few minutes ago and holy shit was it good.
A really fun movie as well, the characters were alright for the most part, some were decently fleshed out while others were simply there just to add to the body count.
The kills were a big step up from the previous ones as well. I was pretty impressed with the practical effects, this is the goriest entry so far.
I also love how the returning characters were used, they're there enough to where you don't feel cheated but they don't entirely steal the show either, a good balance. Wes Craven would be proud.
The ghostface killers in this movie were pretty alright, though I do love that they're essentially just toxic, insane fans of the first Stab movie trying to create a perfect sequel. Which I find hilarious. Also RIP Dewey I can't believe they killed him.

While I'm at it I just wanna say how much I love this series. In preparation for this movie, I went ahead and watched all the previous ones and I can't believe I didn't check them out sooner. From their self awareness, to me geeking out at the horror trivia and the love they show towards the horror genre. They're also very funny but know when to take things seriously and still manage to scare you somewhat.

Trying to piece together who ghostface is in every movie is also fun, making rewatches interesting as you start noticing things that probably flew over your head the first time you watched it.

Sidney Prescott will forever go down as one of my favorite horror movie characters as well as Billy Loomis and Stu Macher, oh can't forget about Randy Meeks and Dwight "Dewey" Riley either, they're both extremely loveable. The soundtrack of these movies are also extremely good, particularly the first one. Being compromised of indie and alternative rock, which as you guys know I adore.

All in all if you haven't checked this series out give it a chance. Not only is it a good scary movie but it's also a good comedy.

My movie ranking goes:
1. Scream (1996)
2. Scream 4
3. Scream (2022)
4. Scream 2
5. Scream 3
