What kind of weird little things do you guys have?
You know the ones. Something completely random you stumbled across one day. Something of absolutely no value or interest to anyone but yourself. A strange curiosity, a mystery you held onto for months, possibly even years for no other reason than it fascinates you, or did so for a brief moment sometime.
I found this little picture in an old secondhand book I got from the charity shop I was working in about 7-8 months ago. It has no note attached and is in perfect condition, it was simply sitting between the very first page of the book. For all I know it could have lay there undisturbed for years, possibly a decade. Unfortunately I can’t remember the book, but it was an old book, older than the photo.
It seems to be a simple picture of someone’s cat, resting outside in what I assume to be a hot summer day. Judging from the shape and window of the building in the background I don’t think that it’s someone’s house.
For some reason I get the distinct idea of cafe, a cafe, in the mid 70s. There also seems to be a pile of cement or dirt, or something else similar behind the cat. Possibly some simple gardening being done, or construction, maintenance?
The cat is lying on a flat slab with a small metal bucket under it, some kind of thick metal wires directly behind it.
This is one of the many reason that I love older books. I have another book published in 1876 with a little hand written note somewhere near the front from 1889. Unfortunately I can’t read the note as it’s in cursive.
That's a cute pic!
