    I will return to G5

    Hey, guys. Mr. J here.

Just so you're aware, I am planning to return to MLP G5: both watching Tell Your Tale and Make Your Mark. Now, I don't remember if I ever told you all about this, but I did inform some of y'all that I've given up hope for G5 because the episodes I watched around that time (two years ago) were so forgettable and boring.

My Review of The Owl House season 1 episode 9 Something Ventured, Someone Framed · 10:26pm Jan 17th, 2022

Grading Scale:

A (fantastic episode)
A- (an excellent episode with at least one flaw)
B+ (a great episode with a couple of flaws)
B (a good episode which still could have been better)
B- (a good episode with numerous flaws but still rewatchable)
C+ (a decent episode)
C (eh... it’s not terrible but not good either)
C- (it’s not worth rewatching although it does have good elements)
D+ (a bad episode with a few good things in it)
D (a really bad episode with wasted potential)
D- (a terrible episode with badly written characters and butchered moral)
F (horrible and unwatchable)

Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with more The Owl House content! This time, I will be reviewing the ninth episode of the series entitled “Something Ventured, Someone Framed”. This was a pretty good episode that shows us how trivial challenges over a position can easily set a person off to do something irrational. Here it focuses on Gus trying to win the challenge of being the president of the Human Appreciation Society by brining Luz to Hexside to prove that his authentic human treasures are real despite the fact that Luz is banned from the school.

Therefore, he lies to her that the ban was lifted so that she could attend again. This was honestly a pretty neat way of developing his character arc, considering the fact that he is one of the most underutilized supporting characters of the show besides Willow. Plus, he learns his mistake and sees that being honest and upfront about the situation makes things a lot better albeit a bit inconvenient.

The humor was not bad, the dialogue was well-written, and the characters in this were pretty decent.

I also liked the subplot of Eda having to reluctantly amend the mistakes she made when she herself used to be a student at Hexside. Plus, the way Luz was hoping to be a student at the school and how much she loved the place was quite adorable. I never thought of saying this, but any episode that involves Hexside instantly becomes interesting and fun to watch for me. After all, they are more engaging and make more sense than did the School of Friendship from MLP: FIM. Suck it, Hasbro.

Overall, this was a very fun episode that I can look back and re-watch again. I give it a solid B!

Peace!
