So yesterday I was all "Yeah JLMoO has been rewritten, let's get this thing up".
Earlier today I was like "This thing needs some work".
And now, half an hour before midnight, I had a nice long conversation about it... and I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't just "needs some work".
Just Like Magic of Old... has been cancelled. It's getting a rewrite, and a reimagining, which should bring it at least somewhere close to my more modern standards. I might still update the story on FimFiction to match the "rewritten" version I have now- but more likely than not, that just won't happen. Sorry, not sorry.
That said, my "modern standards" are also getting a bit of an overhaul. I haven't liked the direction several characters in Accidental Invasion have been going, for example; don't worry, that story isn't dead and I can still rescue it. There may be a sudden change of heart in some of the characters sometime soon, though.
That said, JLMoO is getting a rewrite. Since it's at the level of a reimagining from the ground up, it'll clear FimFiction's rewrite policies... I don't know what it'll be called yet, nor when it'll come out, but it'll take over JLMoO's Monday publication slot when it does. We'll actually get to see some of the bureaucratic nonsense that resulted in the creation of Princess Short Flight's ship- and exactly how an eight-year-old got her hooves on something quite so ostentatious in the first place!
If you've got ideas, I'm open to them. It'll still follow Flight through her discovery of magic and so on, just... differently.

The universe was interesting. Short-living space-faring irresponsible ponies were crazy good. But several plot twists were completely unbelievable. Especially after Short Flight's return.

Definitely, everything after her return- and even a fair bit before it- is definitely getting thrown out. Any specifics on the unbelievables before that point? I want to keep the new version a bit more believable, whilst also keeping the short-lived space-faring irresponsibility-imbued ponies.
As a huge fan of Just Like the Magic of Old, I can’t wait for the rework to gain traction!
I loved how the old one was and with how you’ve improved since then, I’m eager to read the new one!

I love it so far. Short flight having an older sister is surprising alone! But the attack? And her vanishing? I can see it happening! And the way the King sees his children as nothing more than mere expenses? It fits his all too well.
But the ship Short Flight is developing? I hope it’s fierce enough to make even pirates fear it! Cause the Royal Navy needs a lot of work

The Communications cut, the ship is heavily damaged. Pirates appear. The Fleet is engaged inside and out with standing order to not defend the planet. The Elder Princess is currently MIA and no one is able to verify her status atm.
