    Stay a while, and listen...

I have a new story up set in G5 that revolves around a fable. Why do the sun and moon move on their own? And why do ponies celebrate eclipses? Sunny is going to find out.

This is my entry into the Bean's Writing Group "New Blood" contest, so I hope it will do well there. Moreover, I hope you all enjoy it.

    New territory for me

Well, that was an experience. Mostly a good one with some challenge thrown in, so I'll rate it a net positive. :raritywink:

    What was it?

I published my first romance/shipping story.

    An embarrassment of riches

The good news: I'm days away from getting back to a better writing setup. For the last nine months I've only had my phone to work with, which slowed me down considerably. Saturday I get back to my PC and something closer to my old typing speed. This will let me finish my current stories faster and get into some projects I've had in mind.

    Getting closer

Another chapter of You've Been Summoned! is now live. In it, Cobalt has some harsh realizations and sets out to fix what he broke.

Oh, and Twilight gets her mail. :twilightsheepish:

    Enjoy!

This is getting to be a habit

Chapter four is up! If I keep going at this rate, we might actually reach a conclusion at some point.

I appreciate all of your patience as I get through the story of Cobalt and Dusty Rose. I think you'll like where it's going.

    Enjoy!

It's a new year and that means a new list of works in progress! As always, starting with what was already on the board. To recap:

  • More short scenes for Making the Magic: Friendship Shorts, including at least an Izzy/Pipp scene and a Sunny/Sprout scene. Those two scenes are published, but I've had a request for a Sunny/Izzy scene, and ideas for a few others. Making the Magic: Friendship Shorts is complete for the time being. Given it's nature as an anthology, I may add more as the mood strikes.
  • A Hearth's Warming story set in G5, with Sunny trying to recreate traditions she's only read in partial descriptions. (15% complete)
  • A story about the daily adventures of Rob (concept)
  • A T-rated story exploring consent and a hypnosis fetish, staring Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer. (2 chapters done, 1 to be completed) The Reluctant Domme: Twilight Sparkle is published for your enjoyment.
  • A light comedy about a pony being summoned by the map. (40% done) Chapter 1 of You've Been Summoned! is published, with more to follow. It's forming up to likely be six chapters in total.
  • A psychological thriller about how far a pony might go to recover something precious that was lost. (Darkfic. Concept)
  • A story about the origin of statues. (Concept)
  • A long-form story of captivity and control, what could inspire a pony to seek freedom, and what is born of the attempt. (Darkfic. Approximately 20-30% complete)
  • A far-future science fiction/cyberpunk story with the Mane 6 and Spike being "resurrected" to help Equestria in its darkest hour. (Concept) The Once and Future Elements is published and entered in the 2022 Science Fiction contest. I hope you enjoy it! I'll update when the contest results are announced.

Going forward, I have a few obvious choices. First, the comedy fic You've Been Summoned! is, so far, my most liked fic to date after one chapter. I feel a bit of pressure to add to it and bring the story to its eventual conclusion. I hope to slightly change the nature of the comedy to keep it fresh while maintaining the pacing. I imagine it will run a total of five to six chapters.

Next, The Once and Future Elements was written to be a stand-alone story. To be honest, though, the character- and world-building for the story was a lot of fun, and easily only 25% of it made it into the story. That said, I wouldn't be adverse to expanding that tale with sequels, prequels, and even a direct continuation of the story presented. (If nothing else, you need to meet Nonpareil. They are a delightful character.)

I have two stories that are currently back-burnered: the G5 Hearth's Warming story (kinda missed the season for it), and the long-form darkfic about captivity. On the latter I have three chapters I could publish now, but I feel I should be at least to a rest in the story beats before I do. That would require finishing the forth chapter, which is a difficult one to write. The overall story is looking to be a minimum of 12-15 chapters to do it justice. I'll see if I can get that one moving.

In a moment of nostalgia, I had an initial idea for two other fics. Both are inspired by TV shows from a while back. The first is the more light-hearted, based on the comedy Dead Like Me, where some people who die remain as Reapers to send the spirits of the dead on to the afterlife. I saw there was one fic based on it out there already, but it's incomplete over eight years after the last installment, so there might be room to work. The other is based on a short-lived show in the 90s called "Brimstone", with a dead cop released from Hell to hunt down over a hundred other escapees. It was a dark action-comedy, but my main concern is living up to the level of banter between the MC and the Devil, which was brilliant.

That's where I'm at for now. What would you like to see from me next? Let me know in the comments.
