    Not Gone, Just Busy

Yo, my several month update returns, once again typed at the dead of night where I live, cause of course it is. I recently posted a new fic but looking at old ones, and old blog posts had me realize. Maybe I should finish rewriting some of these. So. That is what I'm announcing here. The formal rewrite of "Funeral Of The Magic" is going to be started pretty soon, as I take notes from the

    Old Face, New Fanfiction

Do I really need to do the "OOPS I FORGOT MY OWN PONY FANFIC PAGE STILL EXISTS" meme this time? Yes.

So It's been about. 2 dang years? Yeah, remember when I said I was gonna rewrite things and then didn't? Again? Do not follow my example y'all. :facehoof:

    Ambitious Rewrites? Maybe.

So. I'm always bouncing back around to being here after all this time. And I want to do something daring :rainbowdetermined2:. Brave :rainbowderp:. A little ambitious :rainbowhuh:, if you will. Yes I unironically love the emojis on here sue me. I plan to rewrite/revise my old works. A lot of them struggle from poor pacing, tense shifting, and inconsistent internal logic. For this blog

    Oh. Hi.

I am well aware I appear and vanish like the Blair Witch at least once a year but yeah that's just because my pony fascination comes and goes like airplanes at a terminal. Anyway, might do some writing even though I don't promise I'll make anything new. I have a few characters I haven't used in a hot while and could definitely provide some... flavor. Spice, perhaps. Sizzle, if you will. Taste, if

Ambitious Rewrites? Maybe. · 8:47am Dec 20th, 2021

For this blog post, I'll be talking about my first two works. "Truths" and "Funeral of the Magic" these stories were iconically mine. I made them work, well. But they suffer from issues that seem hard to overlook. So let's get talking about my old work from a technical perspective and a storytelling perspective.

Truths

The story is good, in my opinion, up until the scars are observed. It's then the pacing gets absolutely jazzed, I use this as an adjective for crazy in a good and bad way. Luckily, Twilight seems to be quite in character in this story. She's accurately caring and of course, nerding over good writing produced by someone she considers family. The pace is cracked when Twilight openly asks about it but then presses it. I don't see her being the type to push on something immediately, maybe that just the amount of times she's refused to do so only for things to go absolutely haywire speaking. The reuse of phrases, such as "hurricane of emotion" can also be distracting, what with how close in proximity they are. All in all, this story would be better if it were elongated and gave more time for Twilight to truly look into and understand what Spike is going through, as well as better detail the cause of Spike's issues. Twilight also gets unreasonably emotional for the person who's not currently suffering.

Funeral Of The Magic

HOOOOO BOY. where do I even start with the internal consistency of this one? It's completely broken. There's like no abidance of the continuity. Somehow nobody noticed that the *dead* Granny Smith is alive and well in Applejack's chapter. Or how the *adult* CMC are still visiting the schoolyard. Like. What. The writing is rife with issues like this to the point that there is no clear "true" story in there. I think the best way to rewrite this one would be to focus on one cause, and all the effects as well as the honest changes in the background character's lives. Make sure there are notes preventing me from accidentally contradicting myself. I will leave these stories up until their rewrites are officially published on the site. So you can see what I'm working from.

To make a long long story MUCH shorter, I plan to come back here and do more writing again. I missed this fandom, and the people I knew in it were broadly the nicer ones. I figure it's been so long that I'm sure most of them don't remember me or even see me as someone to make note of. I hope they're doing well in whatever they're doing now. I will be doing my best to write while pursuing work and stuff as I leave my college experience with a degree. I hope you guys are ready for this. It's more... truthful than my last attempts to remind myself to work on things here. I appreciate whoever reads this and hope to do you all proud with the upcoming rewrites.
