egads, it's really odd coming back here, for some reason. i missed the serenity of reading my favorite fanfictions on this site, but it feels kind of... i don't know. i guess it's nostalgia? nostalgia combined with my general depressive mood that has plagued me for the past few months.
unfortunately, some of the newer fiction has characters i don't know or understand. i haven't been able to watch the gen 5 stuff, and as such i don't know Sunny Starscout or Zipp Storm, or... whoever else there is. if anyone can, i suppose, link me to a site where i can watch the episodes? i'd appreciate it. i'll probably become invested in them like i did for the gen 4 main cast of characters.
but, reading the old favorites of mine, it's just... so nice. it's been long enough that rereading them feels fresh again. it hurts, too, though. i felt happier when i was here before, and yet i've only been gone two years.
these past two years have been rough. maybe coming back was a good choice. hopefully i can get past my writers block and... i don't know. maybe i'll be able to write again. i just...
gods. to all of you who've followed me, who still do... i'm sorry for not posting much. i wish i was better, i really do. i'm not sure i can write pony fiction anymore, and even with the creative freedom of being able to write anything in my free time, i'm still not able to write much. it's been a persistent writer's block, and i don't know when it'll go away.
if you read this, thank you. please share your thoughts in the comments, i'll reply to any and all comments because i don't have much better to do. thanks for being here right now, though, because i appreciate the company. this post is probably a mess, but it's a mixture of my thoughts and my feelings, and right now i can't get a grip on either of those.
The new G5 movie was a one shot movie by the looks of it. Nothing really tied it to MLP:FIM besides being in the same universe and a few mentions or references to the FIM.
The movie is - okay. The plot is pretty vanilla and doesn't really try to get deep or reinvent the wheel, "Change the world musical friendship pony quest." - basically. Just seems to cater or tries to appeal to younger audiences and is just - well a cartoon?
The new characters seem pretty straightforward, I suppose they didn't get to fully develop them in a span of an hour and a half so maybe that's why they all seem basic. Hell the only character that stood out to me personally would be Izzy. Not much getting invested in if you ask me.
As for writing, I don't think anyone can really blame you for not writing as much. A lot of the fanbase has moved on or simply doesn't make fan-content since the show ended. A few writers (The ones that I follow atleast.) have either slowed down writing to focus on other things or just have left wholesale.
So - if you do choose to write, whatever you may write. Maybe do it for yourself? Write because you want to write this or that?
Either way, I hope you figure it out. I'd offer to help but leaving a bunch of words here in the hopes you'd see it and hoping it helps is all I can do.
