Greetings, everyone! This is Mr. J back with a very special Christmas-themed short film review! This evening, I will be reviewing a short television special called Kung Fu Panda Holiday. Now, it has been almost forever since I've seen this special. I remember watching this on Netflix a few years ago when I was visiting my dad during the summer (I think). I wasn't sure what to think of it back then except I found it to be sort of decent. So over the past weekend, I was able to give this a re-watch online to see if the special was as decent as I remember. Well, I can honestly say that this was quite more than decent. In fact, I think it was pretty great!

This spin-off story is about the Dragon Warrior Po being called by Shifu to participate in the solemn duty of preparing with the most brilliant chefs in China to make a feast during the Christmas holiday. However, Po's adopted father, Ping, wants to spend the holiday with Po in cooking the delicious soups for the people around them as they have always done before. The panda struggles to make the right decisions as he is forced to leave his father disappointed in not spending time with him during the holiday. Will Po make the right choice?

This was a fairly well-done storyline. The screenwriters managed to portray the characters well with excellent 3D animation and their top-notch personalities. The original voice cast: Jack Black, James Hong, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogen, Angelina Jolie, David Cross, and the others all did excellent vocal performances as they did before.

What I loved about this special was the solid humor, character development, and the lesson about maintaining the importance of being with family especially during the special times of the year such as Christmas. I also liked the father-son relationship between Po and Ping and that we got to see more of what they usually do during the holidays. It was very sweet, heartwarming, and well-written. Oh, and Wo Hop was so funny throughout this whole special. His dedication and humorous zeal know no bounds. Great voice acting, Jack McBrayer!

Overall, it was a very enjoyable Christmas special, and I would definitely recommend this to those who are fans of the Kung Fu Panda franchise. Therefore, I will grade this special with a solid B+!

Peace!
