I've had a recent interaction where a comment of mine done around 1.5 years ago on a Nyx story still receives interactions and back and forth even after a whole year. Another comment received interaction after 5 years and I honestly kinda lashed out.
This has only happened to me with Nyx fans and honestly I've hit my limit.
So I'm building a quick blog why I don't like Nyx. Not hate, don't like.
1)Nyx is Nightmare Moon and thus evil/should be evil
Nyx is Nightmare Moon. Plain and simple. She isn't a kid who got infected with the evil Nightmare Moon virus she's literally Nightmare Moon. She is made out of an evil entity. There shouldn't be a debate about her being evil.
There's many ways to fix this ofc. Make it so in this universe Nightmare Moon is just a berserk version of Luna or something but as far as anything goes this is not what happened. You could say it's a foal magically made infused with her. But still that's not what's said here. You could say she's made out of Twilight's body and infused with her but what's being said in the fic is she was MADE from Nightmare Moon using Twilight as a catalyst.
2)There is no villain/everyone is mind-controlled
You know how in kid's shows or stuff like Yugioh you'll never see anyone dying or a villain being someone truly dickish or something without there being a "Yes, but it was because/not me... yada yada yada"? Yeah this is Nyx to the 3rd degree.
a)Nyx is not evil, it's Nightmare Moon
b)The cultists trying to bring Nightmare Moon back aren't evil it's the head cultist guy
c)The head cultist guy is controlled by Nightmare Moon's true evil and thus is himself innocent
I've never seen anywhere someone jump through so many hoops just to declare everyone here innocent since fucking Yu-Gi-Oh! with the orichalchos season and Dartz's stupid schemes to setup the gang and ressurrect the Great Leviathan/Oricalchos God. Now that I think about it... it's the same fucking thing!
I would be satisfied if it stopped at the head cultist (which I know their name I'm just not spoiling as much as I can). It would still be annoying and it would be like Pen Stroke is trying to keep as many characters for future use but honestly? I could do with some personal responsibility and consequence from this whole debacle. I would have loved to see this happen with a few changes that would add a more clear cut villain that I dunno is just deranged? Twisted? Misguided? Someone who did this out of their own will for whatever twisted reason even to ressurrect their own grandpa or something. Would at least mean more than passing the responsibility ball to the guy before you. Whatever.
I'm tired and quite frankly done. I don't expect any comment in this blog (I mean why would anyone I've literally not received comments in 9/10 of my blogs) but if you do please don't argue about my opinions. I don't really want to do this anymore. I just wanted to let this out in the hopes that it'd help letting out all these emotions will help me calm down. I've been doing olive harvest for like a week for almost 10 hours each day and it's getting to my nerves that I'm given one more reason to be angry. Maybe I lashed out to people that don't deserve it. I just want out of this madness and it seems like nobody is listening to that. Maybe I'm airing this to the void and nobody cares. It's nice pretending that someone is tho.

Anyway, you have your opinion and I won’t try to change it. That said, don’t make the mistake of thinking Nyx’s series is Pen’s only work— he’s written a bunch of other great stuff you should read if you haven’t already.

My research is limited to the 1st book and the TV tropes page. I don't quite have the energy to read more. I'm not about to sink into a sunk-cost fallacy with Nyx. I was blocked for no reason (seriously) from the comic-fication by a fan even tho I hardly left any comments on it and from that point on I haven't looked at it. Maybe Pen Stroke clarifies and fixes things later. In which case the mistakes are still there and don't dissappear but good on him for realizing it.
