Thoughts on Rittenhouse trial: A Just Verdict and Rhetorical Nightmare · 11:02am Nov 20th, 2021
I’m no fan of the police, militias, Proud Boys, or most anything right leaning. So, it may come as a surprise that I agree with the Rittenhouse verdict. I am. Rittenhouse was attacked and he fought back. All the evidence points towards this being the case. I say this as an open socialist.
It’s deeply troubling that a minor was allowed to be in that situation to begin with, but we cannot kid ourselves into thinking that this changes anything regarding self defense. Nor can we let his equally troubling fraternization with Proud Boys cloud our judgment.
The false narrative that Liberals and Leftists have spun over the Kenosha shooting is going to come back and bite us if we let it. I realize that it is no different from what Alex Jones and Tucker Carlson do on a regular basis, but we cannot afford to lower ourselves to the right’s level. The average American holds the left to a vastly different standard than they hold the right. A lie from us is not as easily forgiven as one from the other side. There are far more important issues to deal with at the moment so to any Liberal or Leftist who might read this. Please do not make Rittenhouse the hill you die on. Live to fight another day.
I have to say, I agree with you, on the fact that the verdict was just, and just about that only. Beyond that a sour taste lingers in my mouth, though from that alone I can say you have my respect, as such, I would like to take this opportunity to talk with you, over a few points, should there be no qualms of course.
