YouTube to remove the dislike button · 12:39am Nov 15th, 2021
There's been a lot of debate about this and I'm one of those people who disagrees with this particular move.
Technically, the dislike button will still be there but the number of dislikes won't be publicly shown. There are videos that have more dislikes than likes such as YouTube Rewind 2018, Nicole Arbour's Dear Fat People, Logan Paul's "apology", Jacob Sartorius's Sweatshirt, Justin Bieber's Baby, Hannah Williamson's bigoted response to The Owl House, Joe Biden-related news, etc.
Removing the number of dislikes prevents creators from getting feedback and seeing viewers' expression of disagreement with what they said.
What do you think about this issue?
It's to protect corporations, politicians, and other scum, so I'm sadly not surprised. Sure the button can be abused, but that's the price for all the upsides it provides.
I am going with a template of "Upvote this comment if you disliked the video." It isn't going to be much but if enough people can get this going we can give the finger to Youtube,
