Questions sparked by a conversation on Discord: does Chrysalis have a human counterpart, and if so, who is she? I haven’t decided for purposes of Twin Canterlots, but if there is a human Chysalis, what if she’s the dictator—or ex-dictator—of the country where Rose was deployed?
Thought that was a conversation with Discord for a moment and was very confused for a second.
But yes, the question of the human counterparts of the major villains is a fascinating one. Chrysalis could be a dictator, a cult leader… or just a very passionate and morally questionable beekeeper. Parallel timelines lead to all kinds of fun possibilities.
The idea does have some precedent - Chrysalis did have a doll in the toyline. That being said, so did Zecora, and they didn't do anything with her either.
One thing I've seen come up at least twice by separate authors is that she's the head of a criminal syndicate that specializes in identity crimes.
She's the skank who more-or-less rules the trailer park waaaay down by the Canterlot Municipal Landfill. Rumore has it that everyone who lives there is her kin, one way or the other.
It's known she's done time for identity theft.

Chrysalis as queen of the trailer park is appealing too, and there is a certain symmetry to the identity-theft angle.
