Bout time for an update, eh?

Not a big enough update to qualify for Rabbit Tracks, but this is just to say: Work is continueing on "Just a Pony", albeit slowly. Two more chapters down, then I got sidetracked by videogames, now I'm sidetracked by homework and sickness, and then hopefully back to "Just a Pony" soon!

    Irony

I tried to write a blog about how I haven't been able to write. I accidentally hit ctrl+r and refreshed the page, losing everything I had written. A cruel bit of irony. I am tired and angry with myself and scared for my future as a writer and I do not have the energy to retype it, so pretend there is some sincere and heartfelt explanation here and you're moved by the struggles of some weird

Pictures should be fixed across all stories

At this point if anyone is seeing broken images in my fics on Fimfiction please let me know! For anyone looking for a new image hosting site with Discord having done the Big Suck, I used Postimages and it was rather simple and efficient.

    Image hosting

Real quick, I know my images are all borked again; what are folks using for image hosting these days? Needs to be free and the less likely it is to implode the better... I was using Discord until just recently which is why this mess happened lmao

    Becoming myself

It's a bit strange that I've spent days trying to figure out how to write this. It's such a big thing and I want to get that across to y'all, but I never will. So I'm just going to rip off the bandaid and get this out there. Because something amazing happened to me.

And another Looking Glass pic! · 12:09am Oct 26th, 2021

So that was a hell of an announcement the other day, huh? Those interested in the Looking Glass print edition might be wondering how my decision to end the series affects the plans for that. Well, it doesn't, the print edition is still happening, and I got another pic for it done!

This picture was done by Mori, a relatively new artist to the fandom and one of the only reasons I have a Twitter lmao (don't bother to follow me there, I just follow her and applejackofalltrades and don't do anything else). This is my first time working with her, and she did a great job on this piece! This will be the first pic in the book, coming from the prologue; I wanted an early picture to show to readers that hey this thing is illustrated heavily.

This project is taking a long time though and costing more money than I anticipated. So that gives me pause when considering printing later books, I won't lie. I still want to, but I've come to realize big projects like this were less a labor of love and more a way to force myself to love WWB again. The Looking Glass book will happen. I've sunk too much money into the project to drop it. But other books? I just don't know anymore... Not saying they won't happen, just saying that I'm really unsure.

That said, how much more is there to do? Well, when I decided to get additional illustrations, I came up with a list of twenty new scenes to illustrate (and by I, I really mean applejackofalltrades did it). There are thirteen to go, though two of those are paid for and just waiting on completion from the artists. This may sound like it's a long way off, but it's actually closer than it seems. I was out of work for the majority of this year, and am only in a steady job as of recently, so much of this time I've been unable to do much. I also have been sinking money into another hobby that finally is becoming less costly. All of which to say, I'll be able to pick up the pace on these last remaining commissions (I plan on paying for two more this upcoming paycheck, in fact).

Anyway, enjoy the pic. If you're on Twitter, give Mori a follow and consider her for your own commission needs. She was a delight to work with, and I'm sure I'll be commissioning her again!

as a big mori stan i approve of your decision to get her to do something! she’s great and one of my best friends of many years, I love her so much (although don't tell her that, she already knows!)

Ooh, that looks great! I'm sorry to hear that the printing is more of a hassle than you expected. Still, I'm really excited for when it's finished!

Doing some simple math of swinging two commissions every paycheck (a two week period) I have eleven pics left to get so approximately eleven weeks or three months-ish should cover the cost. Then of course those final artists to get commissioned will have to finish their pieces and for the hell of it I'll do one more read through of the book and make sure the formatting is perfect for the print edition. I'd say it should all be done in about four months if all goes according to plan!
