Factober #24 – Hotel Transylvania 🎃👻🧛♂️🧟♂️ · 9:20pm Oct 24th, 2021
This one has become a Halloween tradition for a modern audience, let's check in with Hotel Transylvania.
Near the beginning of the movie, when the hotel guests are first seen arriving, Dracula mentions that the hotel has been in operation since 1898. It is also shown that Mavis' mother was killed by a mob in approximately 1895 (based on a family portrait showing Mavis at around one-year-old with both of her parents). Bram Stoker's Dracula was written in 1896 and released in 1897. So this movie actually uses a chronological order following the original Dracula story, as if it were a telling of the story.
That's actually pretty genius, I didn't know that they did that, that's a real interesting fact about this movie I've seen multiple times.
Not that it includes much actual vampire lore, but that's a nice little tidbit that shows at least some research was done.
Very interesting, bringing some spirit from the lore to the movie.
"Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania. Such a scary place (Such a scary place). What a creepy place. There's plenty of room at the Hotel Transylvania. Anytime of year (Anytime of year), Is right for chills & fear."
