    BAD news.

So thursday morning after I got up for the day, I had a plan. Eat some food, go work out, then do some writing. I've been trying to get something done for awhile now, but keep struggling in different areas, so I thought if I just have a plan, I'll be able to actually do something.

Is this the end? (Writing blog)

So, lately you may or may not have noticed my writing has slowed down. I could tell you it was my job keeping me busy, but honestly, I could write at work if I really wanted too. Is it burnout? Not really? Then why?

Interview: Krickis · 5:20pm October 9th

What's this? An interview? BUT Nailah, you said you werent' doing those anymore.

Eh, I can change my mind. And I think Krickis is a highly underrated author, and you know what that means. THAT means I will get them more stalkers by using all these followers of mine to see if they might like her too, without further ado. Here we go!

If you ever wanna be interviewed, DM me. I promise I won't bite. (Unless you're into that.)

1. What got you into mlp?

Krickis

Like most people I think, I saw all the hype and kinda went "why the hell are adults watching My Little Pony?" I saw so much of it that I just had to know what this was all about. It didn't hook me immediately, but I was bored so I kept watching and fell in love before too long

Not a very interesting answer lol but that's about all there is to it haha

Nailah

2. what inspired your username?

Krickis

Now that one is actually an interesting story lol. At least I think so. Kinda long though, hope that's alright.

When I was little, my favorite game was Suikoden and my favorite character was named Kirkis. Now wouldn't you know it, I'm dyslexic, and I read that name as Krickis for my entire childhood. So anyway, then I got a stuffed bunny for Easter one year, which soon became my favorite stuffed animal (I had many). Because I was a boy, he was a boy because that's how it works when you're like six or so. I named him Krickis after my favorite character.

So then I start making up stories. Most of the stories feature the main character Krickis, based on how I imagine my stuffed rabbit to be. It gets to the point where I link Krickis's personality closely with mind. So years later, I just kinda think to myself "What if Krickis (the rabbit) was a girl?" And then I thought of her as a girl from then on, so my rabbit became trans. I kept using Krickis (the character) in stories, but now she was a girl. Still an idealized version of myself.

Later, I used the name Archangel online because I was a teenager and that sounded cool. But when it came time to reinvent myself online as an adult after coming to terms with being genderqueer (coming to terms with being trans came later) I wanted something that could not be gendered. So I adopted the rabbit sona and the name Krickis after my stuffed rabbit/the character I used to write about. It gave me a "face" and name that couldn't be gendered, and it was exactly what I needed at the time. These days I consider it just as much my real name as the name I was given at birth or the name I chose for my new name as a transwoman

3. Who is best creature? (Saying best pony doesn't work anymore)

Krickis

I'm always torn on this one. My favorite is split between three depending on the situation. Fluttershy is my favorite in the show, but her charm largely relies on being able to see and hear her. Twilight is my favorite to read about because she'd the most relatable character to me. Sunset is my favorite to write about because she's a little more rough around the edges and has some amazing story potential. I don't like to choose between the three of them so I just ship them all together lol

4. What inspires you to write?

Krickis

Here we go, the real sad bun hours! I write because for a long time, I didn't like being alive. I'm not sure I've ever been happy, not for any sizable length of time. But writing made me feel something else. Satisfaction in a job well done, I suppose. It never made me happy, but I could look at what I'd written and feel like I did something worthwhile. Plus while it never lasted, each comment was a little dopamine hit and I needed that. Now, I do it because I genuinely enjoy it. I'm not as depressed as I used to be, I no longer need it to keep me alive, but I enjoy it, and I want to get those stories out there. Plus maybe someday I'll figure out a way to get paid for it, which is everyone's dream right? Make a living doing something you're good at that you enjoy? I've been extremely poor in the past and knowing I might someday be able to support myself with this makes me want to keep doing it. Plus, you know, nothing is better than having a reader all caps tell you you're horrible for treating the characters this way and that they can't wait for more!

5. What advice might you give a new author, just starting out for the first time?

Krickis

The advice I always give people is that you don't have to do everything alone. Writers are naturally inclined to be solitary, and in the end it is your story and your vision. But you can workshop ideas, let other people give suggestions. I do all my writing myself, but before I ever write a word of a story, at least one other person has been brought in to give some input on it. Especially for long stories, I like to run ideas by people I trust and see if they have any ideas of their own to add onto mine with.

6. What is your favorite book? (It doesn't have to be mlp specifically) and why?

Krickis

I don't have a great answer to this, I'm afraid. I don't really have one, but I do have a favorite author: Neil Gaiman. I'm fond of saying there are two aspects of storytelling, the story and the telling. The story is the story, it's what happens and who it happens to. But the telling is truly something else. It's the words that are used, the way things are described, the pacing, do they rely on metaphors, do they cut the fat and go straight for the details? Well, Neil Gaiman has this magical way with words, he can write anything at all and it's just so entertaining to read. I aspired to be him until I developed my own style that I like. I suppose if I was hard pressed to pick a favorite book it might be Gaiman's Anansi Boys because it was when I realized he was my favorite author.

7. Would you like to say anything about the bunny behind the writer? (About you basically) You may skip this question if you want.

Krickis

Oh I could always talk about myself more! Open ended questions are hard though lol. I guess I could say my other hobby, that's pretty interesting. I digitize rare music, usually from vinyl and cassettes. I buy old music on the site Discogs (usually from the 90s) that never made it onto a digital medium and make high quality recordings of them to share with people who are interested. I've been at it for about a year, maybe a little more, and I've probably preserved about a hundred pieces of music by now.

Nailah

8. Let's turn the table shall we? Is there anything you want to ask me? Be careful, you only get 1 question.

Krickis

Hmm... Wasn't expecting that haha. I guess I'm curious, you've been doing interviews for a while I take it. What got you started on doing them? I think it's great that you give authors a bit of a spotlight like this.

Nailah

I don't like the spotlight, so I figured I could use my followers to help others. Nothing more, nothing less.

Nailah

9. Is there anything else you'd like to say?

Krickis

Prepare yourself for the rabbit uprising. It is coming, and none shall be safe!

...or I could just say thank you again for interviewing me, really a cool experience!
