Good evening, my little jesters! This is yours truly back with another movie review for tonight! I will now cover the second and final segment of Batman: The Long Halloween. This was more impactful and action-thrilling than the previous segment as it wraps itself up perfectly. As the story picks up where it left off, it brings to the table high stakes, interesting character arcs, more threatening antagonists, and the continuing subplot of Holiday spreading their murderous rampage in Gotham.

I especially enjoyed the character development of Harvey Dent in this film because we see the progression of him from being a steadfast fighter for justice to a sadistic, schizophrenic psychopath bent on taking things to the next level. Josh Duhamel did a fantastic job giving that amazing Two-Face voice that is reminiscent of Richard Moll’s voice for Two-Face in Batman: The Animated Series. Just like what The Dark Knight said, “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain.” Truer words have never been spoken. You start to feel sorry for him, and you can see where he is coming from as unfortunate circumstances happen to him... especially in regards to his poor wife.

The voice acting was great, the plot was well-written, and the character development was on point. I particularly enjoyed the involvement of Poison Ivy, Mad Hatter, and Scarecrow as they contributed to the plot with their distinct actions. I’m surprised Mad Hatter was voiced by John DiMaggio; that guy surely knows how to make animated villains recognizable and charming with his distinct voice.

Again, I wasn’t really satisfied with the slow pacing and some of the dialogue they delivered. But it’s no big deal.

As for the plot twist involving Holiday (who was actually Harvey’s wife all along), I was glad they set it up well with properly-put hints and clues here and there. However, they did a very poor job in designing Holiday and the writers’ select choice of the culprit. The killer clearly looked like a man, so how was it that they were a woman? They were obviously going for Harvey as Holiday, but it turns out he was a red herring. That was really stupid because now there’s a villain who is designed as a man to actually be a woman in disguise. If it was her, then the body should have been designed like a woman. If they wanted to have Two-Face disguised as Holiday, then they should have went that route in that way the killer’s manly design would make sense. The twist could have been so much better in my opinion. Good twist, bad execution.

Overall, this was an epic conclusion to this two-parter which earns itself a 9/10.

Peace!

Halloween is more Scarecrow's holiday turf.

True, but a lot of Batman villains have some form of disfiguration, and while Two-Face is the most obvious disfigured villain, the others do have them, but they're usually covered up in some way. There are versions of Joker where that creepy smile isn't makeup, it's actually cut into his face

I know. Other times, that smile is completely permanent.

BTW, I've got two suggestions for movies for you to review, Beethoven, and Full Metal Alchemist, both of which were movies I watched in the hospital
