Recently, Serketry introduced me to the Ponyville Mysteries novel series (I had already read the -confusingly- similarly-named comics), and we both concluded that the Peryton Panic novel was an excellent candidate for an EC story. We decided to make it more of a "side" story with less of a focus on the Mane Six and episode-critical events; and more of a focus on OCs going on an adventure that, while still dangerous, wasn't balancing the fate of the world or even especially related to advancing the overall plot of Season 1 EC.
Then, for reasons that are far too spoilerific to discuss here, we both concluded that the best place for that EC story is way off in Season 5, and that it'd be better to include the main characters in it after all.
Nonetheless, the desire to do some kind of OC-focused story in the Season 1 EC universe remained, and so I figure it might be worth a shot. Here's what I'm thinking:
- The works will be short. I don't really know how short, probably not a single chapter but probably shorter than any main Extended Cut story that isn't written completely as a joke (some of those may exist).
- They will "branch off" from the main storyline at various points, but probably won't affect its overarching plot. They will be marked as sequels to specific EC episode stories, but subsequent EC episode stories will not be sequels to them. To the average reader this likely matters not one bit, but I like to keep things organized.
- They will mostly feature minor OC characters, with the main show characters in peripheral roles.
The first will "branch off" from Boast Busters EC, and be the next story released after it. In it, Doctors Daycaller and Proper Verse will be calling in some favors with the Guards to settle an old academic rivalry, and hopefully not get in too much trouble with Principal Investigator Twilight Sparkle.
I'll read pretty much anything you put in this universe!
