AAAAAAHH
IT WAS ALL WORTH IT
Now that the afterglow has evaporated and the participants have all gotten their anthologies, I want to once again extend my thanks to Skywriter, Cold in Gardez, and GaPJaxie for hosting this amazing contest. It was a blast getting to live in the FiO world for a bit and contribute my two cents to its lore. "Crooked House" was a last-minute entry, completed with a week left before the contest deadline. My original entry, the story that eventually became "So Much For Strangers," ballooned out of control to almost 27,000 words, way past the point of arguability for the contest's 15,000-word limit. Instead of chopping it down, I pulled a hard pivot. Only by the skin of my teeth and the help of the FiO discord was I able to sus out the probability of 4D physics and create the set of realities you see in the final product. Thanks you glorious madlads.
Where did the money go, you ask?
No idea.
That's awesome bro. Congrats
Hurray!
I wonder how "So Much For Strangers" started as an FiO fanfic. I liked the story a lot! I just don't see where the connection used to be.
5585161 originally the story was going to focus on the erasure of deformities (the scarred Kronr was originally going to be a sous chef who'd been horribly burned in a kitchen accident and wants to emigrate to equestria so she can be beautiful again) and how trauma can build you up as easily as it can destroy you. The plot wound up half-baked, no pun intended, so I pivoted "strangers" to what it is today and started work on Crooked House.

That is some pivot!
Thanks for sharing, both the story and a little of the story behind the story.
5585427 anything for you birb
