My Little Pony Movie News 09/20/2021 · 5:12pm Sep 20th, 2021

Gonna be, gonna be, gonna be my day (Be my day...)

*Turns to the screen, eyes widen* Oh, hello... I was just, um... *Clears throat* Hit the music!

GOOD AFTERNOON, FIMFICTION FANATICS!!! This is the Dramamaster829; Critic, Actor, Writer, Motivational Speaker, and Occasional Singer, keeping you up to date with the latest news for the Generation 5 Movie and beyond! I was catching up with work today at the office when all of a sudden I stumble upon this one new music video. And wouldn't you know it, at less than four days away this is the type of song that truly gets my hyped for a movie still to come. While it doesn't offer anything new (Aside from a few extra scenes), this happens to be one of the most entertaining songs I've had to listen to all day.

I've heard it enough, I'm calling their bluff, I'll never get lost in the grey...

*Pause* What? I love a catchy musical number... and speaking of musical numbers...

Like one of my previous blogs that delve into a music video based subject, this is the moment where I give my take on a particular musical score (I dos tress I'm not a music review guy) set to be featured in the film. And while I did find Sofia Carson rather entertaining in that one song she performed, this particular tune in question (Performed by the lovely and talented Vanessa Hudgens) definitely fits the bill of the 'I Want' song in these type of movies. And speaking as a guy who's heard plenty of 'I Want' songs in almost every Disney animated musical feature in the line-up, the fact that they take this tune at a rather upbeat pace while also telling a story all at once. I'm not one to toot my own horn, but this to me feels like a number that can set charts on fire...

WHY IS NO ONE HELPING ME?!?!?!?!

SUCK IT UP, TRENCH!!! *Clears throat* As far as the 'story' premise is concerned, I visualize this tune as one of the earlier songs that takes place during one of the film's opening scenes. Specifically after a brief look at Sunny's childhood and her promise to her Dad they'd help bring friendship together, we can assume that at this day and age Sunny has been living an independent lifestyle in the same living arrangement these past few years. Which again supports my theory that under the likely circumstances, either Argyle (Sunny's father) passed away prior to the 'present' situation of the movie... or the less likely outcome is that he had since gone away and hasn't been back since.

Though if every other Disney movie taught me anything, the parental figure always kicks the bucket...

KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL!

AW COME ON!!! WE'RE ALL THINKING THE SAME THING!

*Straightens up* Back to the subject at hand, the overall circumstances of the song itself will likely have Sunny going about her day making the effort to greet the day with a smile on her face and a promise that things are going to change because... she just knows it's today!

I know it's today!!!

Thank you, Charlie...

Overall, if 'this' song alone is what really sets the mood of what's to come for this feature and the kind that is sure to get audiences hoping off their feet, it's just a shame this movie is not getting a theatrical release in the States because folks would have a ton of fun. It's a song that lets us know this is what Sunny's ambitions are, her day to rid the new Equestria of fear and prepare to introduce the world to the brighter future she and her father always dreamed about. A song that displays Sunny's courage and ambitions, a pony who doesn't sweat the small stuff and a character who stands by her beliefs since the day she was a filly. And as certain scenes suggest, we can expect a few comedic timings like Sprout trying 'desperately' to get a smoothie from Sunny, who's lost in her own word, and sets up a scenario that hints to 'why' she went to 'Canterlogic' in a previous scene as if thinking, 'Every pony will be there at this event so this is my chance to share my story to every pony at the same place'.

Otherwise to make a long story short...

Too late...

*Frowns* It's a catchy and fun song that is sure to make this a video fans will be rewatching over and over, or at least until the movie comes out by the start of the weekend (If not Thursday).

But the bigger question remains: What do YOU think? Be sure to leave a comment below at your earliest convenience.

Until then faithful readers, this is the Dramamaster829... signing off!

Gah! Song spoiler! *covers ears*

Theatrics aside, the title itself reminds me of "This Is Gonna Be My Year" from the Disney Channel Z-O-M-B-I-E-S movie. Which makes me think it probably has similar vibes, which I can't complain about

Can't wait to see how the movie turns out.

While I have never seen that one Disney Channel movie, I can probably understand just where you are coming from with that comparison.

5584525
Seeing as how we are just a few days away from the movie, we won't have to long to wait just to see. Fans are definitely looking forward to how this new feature's about to turn out.

Just a few more days

I’m actually pretty nervous but hey I can always get quirky once in a while:twilightsheepish:

5584530
There's bound to be a ton of quirks as far as what we can expect with this upcoming feature. Looks pretty promising thus far.

5584542
I hope there’s some… well at least decent character arc

Tho if it still manages then it’s fine

5584543
Even if the character arc isn't weighing heavily for the feature, let's not forget they are planning a follow-up series too. So hopefully there's plenty to add in those episodes... and whatever specials YouTube pops up.

5584548
That’s true

So that’ll be a great opportunity for that plan

5584549
Great opportunity indeed. An opportunity to determine if there is indeed some potential somewhere with this generation.

5584528
Yeah. I assume Sunny is singing about how this is gonna be another great day, maybe saying hi to Hitch and talking about their jobs?

So hyped, the song is top notch, only 4 days left for the beginning of A New Generation, loving the new info and blogs Drama esp. with the Helluva boss memes LMAO XD

5584574
Sounds about right. It would be something Sunny would sing about. You really nailed that on the head.

5584589
A top notch song indeed. And I'm glad you enjoy my blogs.

5584615
Someone on the writing staff must have seen Gonna Be My Year because that's pretty much what that song is about. Or maybe there's just like, a main theme all happy-go-lucky songs need to follow

5584618
It does seem to follow quite the trend of happy-go-lucky numbers. The kind of songs where everything starts off well at first at least before things really go along schitt's creek without a paddle. Still, it's numbers like this that really give off some solid views from the audience.

On the topic of: 'I Want' songs in Disney animated musical feature's.

Out There from Hunchback of Notre Dame is like Part of Your World from Little Mermaid for boyz.
& that's why I listened to that song (Out There) a lot when I was a lad.

5584784
Oh yes... I love 'Out There'. Especially when Quasimodo belts that final note at the end. I swear the guy has some serious pipes to hold out that note that long and that high.
