    G5 Drabble

Just something that occurred to me and I felt like typing it out. Posted here with minimal (very minimal) proofreading.

Probably not something I'm continuing, but this is the sort of thing I kinda want to be reading with G5...

    Spoilers for G5, I suppose.

    Status on hard drive

Well, when I woke up this morning, a new hard drive was on my doorstep.

Stuck it in my laptop during lunch, and started working with it after work. This hard drive works fine, and I got it set up as my new home folder relatively easily.

I hooked the old hard drive up to usb, and tried to see what I could get from it.

    Yay, hard drive problems

My blogs are always about computer problems, aren't they?

The computer most of them have been about is fine. I've got several computers, though. The one that had all the motherboard issues was the main desktop.

The other personal computer I use a lot is a laptop. It's a thinkpad that has in it not only a 240 GB SSD, but a 1 TB hard drive and a 500 GB hard drive.

    Incidentally...

That processor that I said may be a little slow, but seemed reasonable? It wasn't reasonable. It was dragging down some of my games, speed-wise. I replaced it with a 3700X I got during the prime sales, and I'm kinds figuring I'll just build a little computer around the other one some time, since it does have graphics built in, which the replacement doesn't. It would've been fine if this wasn't my

    Forgot to mention...

Remember that computer that was acting up? I was just realizing that I never mentioned what I ultimately did about that, so I'm doing that now.

First, while I didn't absolutely need to, I bought a new case for it, because I didn't really like the old one.

Half the time, it doesn't even detect it. If it is picking it up, it gives menacing messages about a damaged superblock, and doesn't mount. If I try to tell it to use an alternate superblock, it tells me about a read/write error, and hangs. This is one very dead drive. I don't think I'm getting anything more off of it.

What I had managed to copy off before it died completely looks to be the Desktop folder, Documents, Downloads, Games, and Projects. Now, it gave a few dozen read/write errors when I was doing that, and I don't know how far it got with Projects.

Still, not too bad, I just wonder what I didn't get. I definitely didn't get any config files...

Sorry to hear.

I once plugged two hard drives into an audio port by mistake. Fried them both, lost everything.
