Greetings, everyone. This is Mr. J once again with another DC movie to review for today! This afternoon, I will be discussing the sequel to the original film I’ve recently reviewed, and this is none other than Wonder Woman 1984 or WW84 for short. In my honest opinion, this was a lot better than the first movie in terms of action choreography, the characters, and the storytelling. I will never understand why the fuck this movie got so many negative reviews. Just last night, I checked the reviews on IMDb and... there are over 2,000+ people who gave it a 1/10 whereas only hundreds of people enjoyed it.

Smh, it really blows my mind that people would find this massive improvement a “disappointment”. Of course, everyone has their own opinion. For me, I thought that this film was great and had amazing acting and awesome character development.

Gal Gadot was once again fantastic as Diana Prince; her mannerisms, personality, and strong demeanor were spot-on. You can tell she put a lot of emotion and effort into her role just like before. I don’t think there’s anyone else who can perfectly portray a live-action Wonder Woman besides her.

It was actually nice to see Chris Pine return as Steve Trevor although the character’s spirit was possessing the body of some random guy from the party thanks to Diana’s wish to the Dream Stone. He is the same gentleman whom Diana remembers before his sacrifice, and the same one who still cares for her and helps her. I really admire their relationship and chemistry together.

As for the antagonists, Maxwell Lord was a well-written, three-dimensional villain. Although he doesn’t have any natural superpowers, his charisma and intelligence makes him a worthy foe especially in the way he seized all the powers of the Dream Stone through a wish. His humanity, weaknesses, and struggles makes him a human with actual emotions rather than a bland, one-dimensional, boring villain. I actually felt sorry for him as he tried to be a good father to his son although his lust for global power made him neglectful.

Pedro Pascal did a terrific job playing him and having him be a fully developed villain. Plus, his redemption was well-executed and well-paced... unlike some rushed villain reformations I know.

I did not expect to see Cheetah in this movie. In fact, Kristen Wiig was wonderful as Barbara Minerva. She portrayed a shy, lonely woman whom nobody liked or appreciated who desired some love, attention, and some form of recognition. All throughout the movie, her slow and gradual transformation from a kind, reserved lady to a vengeful, disturbed, and hateful villainess was brilliantly well-made.

This movie gave us an important message about reality. That at the end of the day, our wishes will not always be granted; no matter how much we want something in life (especially something that involves fame or wealth), we must accept the truth of our situations. Truth is more powerful than anything. Man, this movie went hardcore, didn’t it?

Although most of the actions scenes were great, there were some scenes such as the mall fight scene that seemed a bit too cartoonish and over-the-top. Nonetheless, they are easily forgivable and nothing to be annoyed about.

Overall, this was so much better than the first film. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the first movie; however, this was more interesting to see as it had so much to offer and delivered successfully. I give this a 10/10! Come, guys, give this a chance.

Peace out!

I'm happy that you enjoyed this movie.

And I agree with you on this. "Wonder Woman 1984" is perhaps the most underrated member of the DCEU series I've seen by far, and I really can't understand why it has such a negative reputation to begin with.

I also can't help but hope that Barbara will appear in a future DCEU installment or more, mainly since her fate was left pretty open-ended.

Yeah, I hope to see her again too. In fact, there’s word that there will be Wonder Woman 3.

5579556
I heard about that too.

So far there aren't very many details as to what the movie will be about, but I did find that Jenkins and company are planning on having the film take place in the 21st century. The present day, to be precise.

That’s cool.

Hopefully, people will give it a chance, but I heard that the filmmakers are worried about how they might make it work due to the backlash against this movie. Just goes to show how utterly childish complaints can ruin the fun. :facehoof:

Agreed.

This movie isn't even the first on where this sort of thing happened.

I watched this movie for New Year with my family and we really enjoyed it. I also loved the first Wonder Woman movie

Overall, this was so much better than the first film
