Overwork should be illegal · 1:21pm Sep 6th, 2021
To this day, developed countries such as China, Japan, and Korea glorify the culture of overworking as a sign of loyalty to the company, to the point of passing out and/or dying. It is pretty evident that huge companies aim to maximize profits and treat employees as money-making machines and disposable slaves instead of human beings. They don't care about their overall well-being whatsoever.
On August 27, 2021, Chinese authorities said that the 996 (9am to 9pm, 6 days a week) policy is illegal. Having said that, fingers crossed that changes are going to be made in order to abide by the labour laws.
Agreed.
